Following that thread last week, I thought I would investigate the AT Power throttle bodies.

Same 50mm bore as the Ford jobbie pictured that I usually use but much more compact.

Looks pretty nifty Paul. Shaftless too *smiley*

I don't think they were AT ones but JonhK showed me a set of four on one of SC's demo 8 port engines with the shaftless linkages at their place in Norfolk earlier this year.

They were much smaller (being four of them on an 8 port) and VERY compact.

IIRC he said the shaftless linkage across all four allowed the use of a smaller (nominal) body which improved low down torque.

Obviously 4 injectors and no siamese issues.

I think the thing with factory ones - I've got a Rover one and it is massive - is they have all sorts of tappings, heater conections, bulky IACVs, massive TPS sender, all because there is plenty of room under a modern car bonnet.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Actually, the fact that it is so small is the only positive aspect.

The fixings holes are only 5mm diameter. The idle stop is in the wrong position and the WOT stop lets it go over centre.

Also not sure that you can get a 50mm silicone pipe and clamp on the inlet without it fouling the quadrant.

Still if SC use them, they must be good.

Quite tidy looking. But is the pipe 50mm, or butterfly ?

Having big TB's on a boosted engine isnt great for driveability, and they really arent needed for power.

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

I've just ordered a couple of 35mm Jenveys for the Racing Flame. Be good to make a comparison.

John has since told me the ones I saw are made by AT but designed by both parties jointly but marketed under the SC name. I hope I got that right.... I don't want to start another fight.

The four together are obviously for a completely different application to those of us persuing injection and turbo on a 5 port, but they still looked really neat and compact in a row of four.
