Vadertron - The 1380 Blow Through Supercharged Clubbie

Vader was a belated part birthday present for my 19th birthday, I got him Feb 2009. The lad he was bought off was going to Uni and had to get rid of him so I got him for £500

He had half an engine, a chavtastic exhaust complete with spark plug for popping bare flames blud and some rather nice interior bits.

This is how he looked when I picked him up





He was left in the garage whilst I played with my other Mini, Minxy. I had ideas of redtops and bike engines for Vader until I left the ex and had to give back my purple Mini so Vader ended up being the only one left in my team. So I had to make some plans which could actually work given my age, etc. The engine was a 1310 but after taking it apart and finding it was wankered it was onto a new plan. I considered having the 1310 refurbed and honed but then a mate came along selling a 1380 and S/C box and unfortunatly I fell for it :)

This is the block and box as I got them



Straight cut gears and drops, X pin diff and pick up.


It needed abit of cleaning up and general work so off I went to see Simon at Morspeed.

He cleaned, decked, honed and fitted new core plugs to the block and painted it in a rather lovely blue. Cleaned my pistons up and ground my crank.



I have an S head that was also looking abit tatty so off that went too. It had a new set of double valve springs, race valves, ported to stage 4 and skimmed.





Of course he stamped the head but I thought it would be abit funny/clever/immature to put my own personal stamp on, at least I'll know it's mine if it's ever stolen



Of course a trip to Morspeed isn't complete without loads of tea and a dress up session



So onto abit of bodywork. The plan is to have him fully de-seamed minus the roof guttering which will be cut down. FG flip front, smooth bootlid and miglia arches to house a set of 13x8 Alleycats

Well engine spec is as follows if I can remember it all

1380 block with 11cc Powermax pistons on balanced rods
S head (I'll find the number later) ported to stage 4, race valves, double valve springs and unleaded converted
1.5:1 Roller tip rockers
Guessworks S/C gearbox with s/c drops, x pin and central pick up
Metro Turbo carb and plenum
Ally 2 core rad
5th Gen M45 supercharger
HKS SSQV 3 BOV
Intercooler - not bought yet so spec unknown
Oil cooler - as above
Megajolt ECU

Predicted power atm is 160bhp, whether it makes this or possibly more is still not known.

If you are putting a clubby nose on it a cossie cooler will fit in there nicely.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

There is something quite ironic about the head stamp. Mspd cunt, lol.

Did you buy it from a lad in/near Southall? I bought some stuff of him once.

Someone did mention a Cossie intercooler as I want it to sit behind the grill. But as it's blow through the charger also sits at the front, it's going to be tight in there

I like to think of it more like a statement. More speed, cunt!

Also, it's not black anymore. He is purple with blue viper stripes. Sounds shit but it looks better than my dinner on Kelly Brook's tits!!

As far as I'm aware, I might be the only one.

Looks like you are on your way to a unique ride! My only comment to consider would be the straight cut drops....mine scream so loud that you cannot hear the person sitting next to you at just about any speed....fun for a once a week ride and a great attention getter, but would get very old fast as a daily drive. I'm probably going to pull mine the next time I yank the block out.....
