Pretty sound advice already - measure, test fit, curse a lot. I've used some rod eye bearings that attach to brackets on the brace bars; the "front end" brackets are held on using the side lights. "Wings" fastened to the A panels using a pair of Dzus clips on each side (Dzus spring clips on brackets welded to the back of the A panels.)

Decide how you are going to hinge it, whether to use "off the shelf" ones from the Mini specialists or if you are going to make your own.

take it slow, measure measure measure, test fit, test fit, test fit, adjust, adjust, adjust, think to self omg why did i buy a one piece, swear at it, throw stuff at it, realise no matter how hard you try it just wont look right, bodge it on anyway making up excuses as to why its out of shape, get bored giving the same answer, fit a steel flip front ***can you tell i did not get on with my one piece and binned it in the end :) Its not that hard! i fitted another one this year and you cant tell its FG. measure it a few times then get the test fit spot on. It is just a case of proping it up in place, then fitting the brackets and fixing point. |
