OK so my N/A mini is soon to be MOTed and I am tinking about the first upgrade.

For the turbo setup I have bought a MD256.

I have a 12G202 that I intend to rework in the chamber and exhaust ports.

Finally I have a set of 1.27 rockers that I wil upgrade with some offset bushes.

All of those are on top of a stage 1.

I did some math.
Valve perimeter of the 1100 head vs 998 head is 10% more so I multiplied the standart output of the 998 by that.
Same again with the duration of the cam and the upgrade of lift.
All in all, it gave me 55 bananas at the crank so I think it is about right.

Comments welcome.

I ran a 12g295, cooper freeflow manifold, twin HS2, everything else standard and it made 45 at the fly.

oh 33 inlet and 27 exhaust, probably a bit big for NA.

oh again all on a 998

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

Maybe a bit optermistic, an MG or 266 cam with a 295 head would make that or a few bananas more in my experience

It was based on a comparison between specific items such as cam timing 10% more so power 10% more.
Actually, 266 and 295 head gave something in the 60' area so I thought it was pretty good ...

Few years ago my wife had an every day full standard 998 A+ Mini. The head gasket blew up (it had more than 200000km on the clock). I unshrouded valves, put MD256 and there was no way to make it run right until I buy the stage 1 needle. Then it ran very well. How much is stage 1 output ? I don't know.
So investing in all these mods to get just 55hp seems to me too much.

Cam is bought for the turbo application
12G202 cost me 30 euros
1.27 rockers cost me 20 euros
Add to this a skim of the head and a head gasket and yes it is not cheap.

But still much cheaper than a 1300.

And the banana price is probably on par with a turbo conversion.
