I'm just running a check for getting some stuff ready. Is it tunerstudio that's preferred for tuning the ms on the a-series? And are there any specific system requirements(windows xp, mac etc....)?

Cheers

James

If you are intending to use the MS2-Extra code (including the sequential and/or siamese code) then you have to use TunerStudio.

For reasons Jean has explained earlier, the old Megatune programme can't display all the dropdown options that are now available in the sequential/siamese code.

Something to do with fixed screen resolutions or something similar, not sure if it's ever been fixed in Megatune but, once you've got used to TunerStudio, you wouldn't want to go back anyway, well apart from their annoying habit of making upgrades mandatory and screwing up some of your existing settings every now and then as a result......

I run on XP, if you go to their home site I think it tells you about Mac or Linux options......

I concur, tuner studio is better than megatune, just a nicer interface.

Okay. Tuner studio it is then. What's people's preferences on OS for the computer?

Only ever used it on XP so I can't comment apart to say that it works fine.

I think Graham T had some problems on Windows 7 but managed to resolve them - do a search.

I'd stick with earliers OSs, I'm probably going to use W98 one the actual laptop in the car as that laptop is so old and can't have enough memory installed to run XP properly (don't want to destroy my good laptop by bouncing it around inside a Mini on the road - if I ever get that far....)

That's a good idea Rod. So, my sis is selling her laptop, has xp on it, for 100 bucks( 60ish pounds?) This would be perfect I'm thinking. Has anyone had any cable connection problems, i.e., not having the correct cable to connect to from ms to the laptop?

If the laptop has only got USB, you need to get a serial/USB adapter that actually works.....

Some do, some don't.

But if the laptop is old enough it will have proper serial connector anyway....

Thought I would clarify, I am using Windows 7 X64 with TunerStudio installed, as before I just stated that it worked with 64 bit Win 7.
