Hi,

Just wandering if anyones tried using a system like this on an A-series. I think Vizard spoke about them briefly in the later edition of his book.

Its basically a system where you plumb a pipe from your breather system through a one way valve, into the exhaust. The idea being at high rpm it creates a vacuum in the crankcase.

I've always had issues with breathers on my engine, after trying the gentle run in method I ruined a set of rings and washed the bores last year, so this year I went hardcore, but the breather problem still persists.

This sort of system seems ideal to me, rather than all the fumes coming into the car it sucks them through the exhaust and throws them at the car behind! Should help with oil leaks and the crank spinning up too, if the stories are to be believed.

You can buy a kit, for a V8 on ebay, which means infact you get enough to do two cars, £20 seems worth a go to me?

Thoughts?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

so what does it do?

do you fit a one way vavle onto your crankcase breather then pipe it to that other piece which im guessing will be welded onto your exhaust? so it will only let crankcase vapour come OUT of the engine via the valve then the exhaust sucks it into the exhaust?

Yeah

The shiny bit is a filter thing that goes on your rocker cover or catch tank or whatever. Then you weld that pipe into the exhaust, and the other thing which is a one way valve screws onto the back of it. Then run a pipe from the valve to the filter.

Easy peasy. Looks well made, wish the filter wasnt as shiny tho, might have to do something about that.

Thats what I was thinking about. Wonder if this would work ok on a turbo motor?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

There is no issue with using this system on a turbo, as long as the tapping on the exhaust is down stream of the turbo. The system works on the Venturi Effect, so even a little pressure in the exhaust, 2 or 3 psi shouldn't matter much as long as the exhaust gas velocity is reasonably high.

Just using this exhaust evacuation system on its own will only work as you give the beans and unlikely to work at low throttle openings or idle.

that's interesting,

I was assuming that if there is no pulses in the exhaust there would be no scavenging and thus it would not work, I hadn't considered it would venturize out.
