Bonjour

thought its about time i started a build thread as i have a bit of progress.

bit of background first. ive had the car for 4 years now, spent 15 months rebuilding it
Engine wise it had a N/A 1330, made 70hp ATW and 90lbs ATW

I then drove it around everyday for couple of years due to wear and tear i decided to bare shell it again, to do a few more things. couple of bits of rust too. i sold the na engine with the intention of either doing a engine conversion or turbo a series. i then had to chuck a standard 1275 back in as i took it to the nurburgring last september. The car was a bare shell 2 weeks before we left, i sprayed it that weekend, built the whole car in 2 weeks then had it motd 12 hours before we left for the ferry lol

Once we retured from the ring i wasnt happy with the rush job i had to do of the paint and putting it together, so ive taken it apart..again. hopefully the pics will load....

ive made my own bulkhead box, and smoothed the bulkhead by cuting out the reseses and but welding in flat plate. i know the box is big but ive never really liked how they stop at the crossmember. then i did another repair in the drivers footwell.

Fabricated this repair all from flat plate, only took 6 hours lol

so this is where im at now, i have a big box of parts, inc turbo carb adn plenum, fuel pressure reg, and both manifolds, and few other engine bits,

il be using 21253 pistons, mg metro cam, 2 pin diff, sc drop gears, ultra lite flywheel, and a grey diaphram with fast road clutch plate. and a na head with large chambers, will be aiming for 8.5:1 cr. im also going to try a solid copper headgasket out of 2mm which i will waterjet out at work.

Cars got all the ushall suspension mods everything adjustable, and alloy 4 pot brakes with 7.5" discs on 10" wheels.

thanks for reading, sorry for rambleling*happy*

lol the cars called gordon my names Dave

thanks very much, yeah i did debate sourcing a repair section from somewhere, but i fancied the challenge and worked on the basis that a repair section would probably need aload of work to fit nice anyway!

Ive been moving units over past week, finally got all my stuff moved, so carried on work this evening.

Im in a bit of a dilema as to what to do with the back of the car.. im going to tub the arches, and fit a new rear valance and debumper it neater.

BUT my dilema is, how far do i take it, ive already got a mpi fuel tank, so i could save money and just keep standard subby and suspension and tank. OR modify the rear subframe into a beam, and put some new stronger turrets in, modify the boot floor, make a custom fuel tank to sit in a recessed boot floor. so extra costs would be the coilovers, and another fuel pump. id enjoy the fabrication work. just not sure if its worth it.

But i dont wanna not do the extra work, then in 6 months time once its painted wish id gone the whole hog

You all know how it goes "oh ill just do this" then before you know youve spent 5k lol

Little update, ive got the boot floor cut out to the right size, got my boot floor and tank designed, the tanks 600x400x145, gives me about 35 litres. Just gotta find 5 minitues at work to draw them up and cut them out.

Trying to decide where to put the sump for the tank ? im thinking in the middle at the back?

you cant really see in the pic, but where the tank is the floors dropped down more, then steps up on the right, to give me a space to tuck the exhaust silencer right up, with the tail pipe being cut up into the valance.

Ive also cut my subframe down and started to strengthen it, doesnt look like its twisted yet so fingers crossed!

Just remembered I had a build thread! So here is a little update.
Slow progress due to working long hours/other projects/lazyness/being anal *happy*

I'll put up pictures of the other things I've been doing aswell incase anyones interested.

My cardboard boot has become reality!

Also finished the new turrets

Arches tubbed

All the underside and arches are stone guarded now too and primed ready to be painted

Rear beam is finished

New dash bar, Also replaced most of the passenger footwell, repairs I've done are all seamsealed

Replaced both ends of the heelboard along with sections in the bottom of the quarters and all around the subframe mounting area

Thinking of going for some wellers

These are the seats I'll be going for, also fitting a rollcage, as you can see all the mounting points I've put in

I don't normally work this messy lol but this is the trial fit of the Rear Gaz coilovers - can go seriously low!

So then I bought this and resprayed it

Then sold that after a year and bought this

Meanwhile I was working on my mates cars doing this

and

Im doing filler work now, then I'll be using this to do the spraying - Hood fed by fresh air from a pump you put outside 50ft away from where you're spraying. A few of us imported it from america, seems to work really well!

I'll try and keep this updated now!

Kthxbi

Evening, work has been slow and steady with what more sideline adventures taking place....more pics - currently finishing building my engine! waiting for the crank and flywheel to come back from being balanced then its final paint and build.

stripped the old engine

ported myself, this was only halfway through, also took out the chambers

checking the piston cc to work out my compression ratio

rebuilt and ready

off for balancing

Im hoping to feel like this little guy

Meanwhile when i should have been working on gordon - i bought this to freshen up and sell on for profit

And baremetal'd and sprayed the engine bay on this 1960s mk2 Jaguar

I would like to have gordon finished before the end of summer! 2013!

Thank you, please come again

Almost finished building the engine now!

Going to get my alloy fuel tank made up this month-

Can anyone recommend a company to make a custom alloy tank?
