Brett.

I think I can recall Fab, our Parisien TM member, generated a set of std Metro Turbo Distributor Ignition Advance Curves.

I downloaded these a while ago and they are copied below, read in 4 columns, but I'm not sure how these compare to other dizzys.

Hope this is of use.

Richard.

--------------------------------------------

Dizzy with ignition module on side :

Numbers on ign. module: 84896 -->3988
Numbers on Dizzy: AUU 1533 2003 --> 42661A /189
Mark on Dizzy weights: 10 and on vacuum canister 12; measured + 12 deg at full vac.

Dizzy RPM Dizzy deg Engine RPM Engine deg

500 0 1000 0
750 1 1500 2
1000 3 2000 6
1500 7 3000 14
2000 8 4000 16
2500 9 5000 18
3000 9 6000 18

Dizzy with separate ignition module:

Numbers 41932A -->3382
Mark on Dizzy weights: 11 1/4 and on vac. canister 17 12 54403635; measured + 11 deg at full vac.

Dizzy RPM Dizzy deg Engine RPM Engine deg

500 0 1000 0
750 2 1500 4
1000 4 2000 8

2000 8 4000 16
2500 9 5000 18
3000 9 6000 18

Next I adjusted the dizzy to give 3.5 dizzy deg at 750 dizzy RPM and measured the timing:

Dizzy with ignition module on side:

Dizzy RPM Dizzy deg Engine RPM Engine deg

750 3.5 1500 7
1000 5 2000 10
1500 9 3000 18
2000 10 4000 20
2500 11 5000 22
3000 11 6000 22

Dizzy with separate ignition module:

Dizzy RPM Dizzy deg Engine RPM Engine deg

750 3.5 1500 7
1000 5 2000 10
1500 8.5 3000 17
2000 9.5 4000 19
2500 10.5 5000 21
3000 10.5 6000 21

-------------------------------------------------------------

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Thread resurrection.

Looking at these, it appears that it's quite conservative. Although I'm a little confused by the figures.

It mentions 'full vac'. Now, at 'full vac' I'd expect lots more advance for cruise, but this is not the case.

Basically, it turns out I have a Mk1 Metro dizzy on the Nimbus and I want to up the boost a bit. I have an MS to fit at some point, but just wanted to know what people timed their dizzys in at for a few extra psi?

I read it as there is an extra +'X' degrees added at full vac

That makes more sense, I think I need more tea to off-set the lingering beer!

Iv got 25 degree total advance at 8.5:1, it runs better off boost than it did at 20 degrees,I will try abit more at some point.set mine to give 25 degrees at 5000rpm by putting 3mm of weld on mechanical advance stopper. 25 is all in at 2500 rpm
