Wont this lose boost pressure? The cracks are fairly bad when you look at them directly. The wastegate seat is distorted/uneven because of them. Will this cause me problems? |

Has your camera got a macro setting on it? Most do even mobile phones these days. You should be able to get a much better picture then. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

In the pictures you can see the darker section is where its leaking. I have cleaned it up for the pics but it was sooty here. |

I have not seen a T2 without these crack, but I have not seen one where the cracks have moved a section of the cast and stopped the wastegate closing.

I am able to weld cast (mates got the right tools) would this be ok with such an application?

Before considering welding it, check out the important bits, ie, shaft bearings, thrust bearing and both impellors.

There is no play at all and everything looks in good order apart from the cracks |

R5 people use to replace the casting by a diesel one that is thicker
