On the road or mountain biking?
If off-road that's legendary - you should be in the Olympics (off road event in that famously mountainous county of Essex *Confused* )

I average 20mph over 25 miles road riding and have hit over 35mph racing down hill mountain bike.

Fastest I have been on a moutain bike was 60.4mph then got hit by a car that turned right in front of me cue 2 weeks laid up and one poperly trashed bike

just on the road & where the traffic was bumper to bumperi annoyed ppl on the paths, to be honest, it may aswell be offroad as the roads & paths are shocking!

i reckon i was working myself on about 85-90% effort, i had more push in me if i needed it, hopefully i'll sleep tonight

i'm only a short-arse but i have always cycled alot, my knees are shot & have torn cartlidge in both but i dont have any pain cycling aslong as i keep my arse on the saddle, which is apparently the technique!

i have those semi slick tyres on my Road Mountain bike so that makes me a bit quicker

unless i have to carry stuff i dont use my car or van i jum on my bike with a rucksack, fresh air

Ha ha, what the hell! How long ago was this?

You were within the speed limit so I don't see a problem.

Thats pretty good speed! 14 miles would take me about 55 minutes nowadays! 7 miles in 19 minutes is my quickest......10 years ago!

Fastest ever was 49mph at Caswell Bay on The Gower. Nervy as I was on my Zaskar with V brakes!

Getting too old for a hardtail alu bike so Zaskar's singlespeed now, and the off roading's done on a Cannondale Scalpel.

I work in a bike shop in manchester, riding in everyday on my road bike usually takes 30-35min for just over 10 miles all in busy rush hour traffic, pain in the ass. I have a nice MTB to witch i much prefer riding. loveing the zascar they were and still are the stiffest frames out there so unforgiving yet so fast!

My Scalpel pic is on the Chase! I keep getting lost there - unless I'm Following the Dog (new route due to open soon too).

I rode for the irish moterbike trials team as a young chap, also was a decent domestique as a roadie in europe for a bit.
My mates have now gotten me into the mountain bike lark now. great fun, considering the traffic on modern roads, its nice to see the unbeaten track that i saw as a trial rider.
Its a nice getaway from dublin life, in wicklow the trails are world class i must say. However, as a local im biased

ahh i keep to the downhill go out to france and switzerland and ride the off peak stuff out their great stuff i have to say fastest ive every been on the cycle is 44.7mph down a rocky fire road off the top of a ski lift got a video of it somewhere but it doesnt really look as steep or as quick as it was still pretty damn scary i more prefer the steep as you like off the beaten track where your going about 10-15mph and having to navigate stuff you wouldnt normally want to :) or flat out good downhill courses
