I have been busy building a left hand drive Turbo mini.
I couldn't find much about the lhd turbo's in the books ,8 years ago..when i started the built..:(
Internet was small that time..
Buy a house..find a girl..no money or time left..
Put the car a side..didn't touched it in 7 years..
Almost sold it several times..but couldn't...

Rhd turbo's where well known in the UK..but even Avonbar hadn't build lhd turbo mini that time..so i took the best of all i could find and did/try fit the rest myself..
That's why the bulkhead is very different from the rhd turbo mini's..see pic's..
Also there's a weber box fitted..you never know what the future brings..

The shell is the best i ever saw for a 20 year old car <right now it's 28 years>
By this time the shell is sandblasted <fly rust from standing 7 years inside a garage> and coated with a anti-rust coat.
The botten is sprayed in primer, the inside is hand painted in lead-primer,the old style primer, not availeble for 15 years over here due to regulations...<still got 2 liters..*happy*>

The shell is 99.9% original still..only the rear valance <banana> is replaced..*surprised*

Paitscheme will be as original : blvc291 blue metallic.
The rest of the metal inside and outside will be ford blue <subframe's,heater, tank etc. etc.>see pic's..
Hope by Christmas/first week of January the shell beeing sprayed..
The rest is finished already..
i know..most people do it the other way around..

Excellent. Can't wait to see it in paint.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Oops...that's been a while since my last update..
Restoring 1 clubbie saloon,a 1275 gt and a vauxhall nova 2.0 16v took some time..8-)
Yes i'm not a driver..i like the metal work more.

The estate shell is painted twice now..I was not happy the first time.
Right now it's perfect, just how i like it.
Also the shell is wax-oiled [correct spelling?] 3 times! as well as the garage floor...8-)

The brake lines and both fuel lines are already in place, little bit of a struggle and creative thinking for the return fuel pipe...
Both the subframes are completed and put back on the car.
Took me some time to get used to the blue color..
Interior is coming a long way already, including a new black roofliner *surprised* ,a leather mpi top dash, recaro black leather bucket seats and a fresh carpet set from Newton.
Aldo i'm not happy with the carpets, they don't fit a nice as they should do..they're a little short on some places. Yes i orderd the right ones for a estate, but already saw another estate with the same problem, with the same carpets from the same manufactur.

Last week i had another shipping send from the Uk for the missing parts.
So pretty soon the fuel tank is going back in it's place.

Right now i'm fitting the brand new loom in it's place and customize it at the same time.
On some places the loom is to short cause i converted the bulkhead and also the hole for the loom.
The estate's original loom is nowhere to be found for 2 years...have you seen it perhaps? *happy*
The secundaire loom to the rear is original and was a piece of cake to fit of course.
Only had to fit 2 extra wires for the fuel pump, wich will go in the spare wheel space.
Also in the spare wheel space the connection for the fuel return pipe is made there,so you don't see it inside the car. Also less change to damage that one..

Pretty soon i wil begin to put back on the side sliding windows, probally a struggle..as i dont remeber how the where fitted as i took the car a part 8 or more year's ago.
Also the rear doors are ready to put back in.

Engine wise the clubbie will first be a non turbo runner..
As i still have a spare engine in stock.
It's a 1310 cc A+ metro engine ,balanced crank and [lightend] flywheel ,sw-05-07 cam ,duplex vernier ,stage 3 cilinderhead ,hiff 44 ,1.5 full roller rockers. With thanks to Swifttune.
This was planned to be my daily driver engine, but a Audi Q7 versus an old mini head on collision dicided something else 1.5 years ago...:(
The audi's left front wheel was on top of my dash...no bullshit.
Thank God [and myself] for a decent rollcage, and seat belts. I only had broken my left arm.
But the mini is a written off..even the rear of the shell/subframe is moved like 5 cm.

Some progress..

New headliner in black..

First date..

Need to make a decent dash..
Blue all the way.

It's in!

Need to connect some things, then in a month time or so [no snow,no salt,no cold] want to make a first testdrive..
Then this engine stay's in untill funds clear a bit more and the turbo engine is beeing build.

But with no heater in the working space right now it's to bloody cold to get do some more work on it.

Big update!

She was out off the shed,on her self ,on 4 wheels, with a working engine.....
For the first time in a decade!
Also the first time i ever drove the estate....*happy*
Bought it as a donor in april 2002 i just saw on the paperwork.

Did a first test drive friday mornig.
A few minor issues.. with the oil filter housing gasket, and some stupid bleed nipples.
Checked the wheel aligment, caster etc etc.
Took the guys a few hours to set everything correct.Very pleased with that one.

Yesterday and today i made everything MOT ready.
Appointment tomorrow for the MOT.
Fingers crossed.

Started to dismantle the turbo engine in my spare time...one day it will be in..

Some pic's from last week..all for the fans..-]
