Well with the Royal Mail being on strike recently I decided to look around for other options, and came across the "Hermes" service.

Up to now I've used it three times and to be honest I'm quite impressed. One of the main advantages for me is that you can pack up whatever it is, print a label with barcode from the website, then just leave the parcel somewhere safe ready for the courier to come and collect it. Like many people I work during the week so normally it is always a chore trying to get to the post office.

Cost is £4 up to 2kg, but TBH I've sent something that was probably a bit more with no issues.
