hi, this is my daily drive.

had it a little over a year.always fancied an orange sportspack,
saw this for sale and had to have it. someone has spent a hell of a lot of money on this in the past. when i bought it i vowed to keep it standard, but...

im looking at upgrading the engine/gearbox to a 1360 block with hypertech pistons, cooper head, double valve springs, 1.5 rockers, sw5i cam, duplex gears, ported inlet manifold, lcb, straight through exhaust, 52mm throttle body, k+n induction (some of these parts are currently fitted and will be reused) . the cr will be around 10.6:1

have already built the gearbox, its 1275 gt close ratio with centre oil pickup, hardened diff pin and 3.2 final drive, extended sump plug, fast road clutch plate.

porbably will upgrade brakes to ap 4 pots as i have a spare set kicking 'round.

have also toyed with the thought of lowering it slightly, maybe fitting a r/h tank, and looking at aftermarket ecus, and maybe fitting a full length sunroof. these would all be in the very distant future!

Looks good. Good useable mod list you have. I wouldn't bother with the RH tank though.

The later tanks are big enough and you'll end up with no boot and hassle with fuel pumps. If you must, you could fit a fake filler cap thing.

that's smart Dan, I'd love a modern mini as a dailly, I just couldn't fit all my stuff in it!

cheers for replys. i couldnt handle a dummy filler neck!

also been thinking about fitting s/c drops but worried this might put people off when i sell it in the future. plus im sure helical will do just fine with my engine build plans.

hopefully will be pushing around 90bhp...have read some crap on the net about mpis, how they aparently dont rev past 5000rmp (load of crap), and that they can only be tuned to about 80-90 bhp. we will see when i get the power boost valve setup on the rolling road!

also toyed with the idea of fitting black leather seats as oposed to the smoke grey ones with red piping that it had at the moment - think i was looking to change things for the sake of it!

will get some interior pics up when i get time!

just leave body and interior as it is imo will help it retain value in future.

engine plans sound ok tho

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

yea, will keep it looking as it is. it seems to be fitted with most options from new, full sportspack ,
inside has full leather, red carpets, rover floor mats, cooper alloy door furnature, cooper alloy gearknob, 6 clock walnut dash+ magnolia dials, walnut door cappings, leather top dash rail, walnut/black leather airbag steering wheel.
not much for me to change for the better.

only two interior mods il be making are to fit a steering drop bracket and fit a magnolia oil pressure gauge. hope to sort these two things out over the next few weeks.

hope to have the engine/gearbox built up and in within the next 3-4 months!

here is a piccy of the gearbox, admitedly it just looks like a gearbox. spec is as previously mentioned, close ratio etc etc

new diff pin

new crown wheel/diff built up

once i get this changed and sorted i can get back onto my turbo project...

Are you keeping the airbag? Be careful with the lowering bracket if so as it will probably be more dangerous if it went off than if you took it out.

cheers gavin. yea, keeping the airbag. first will see how low i want the wheel. if its too low (airbag wise) i will disconect the airbag wiring.

rover only gaurenteed them, for something like 8-10 years (cant remember exactly), though will disconnect mine to be on the safe side

gave the car a quick clean a couple of days ago.

its not looking too bade considering it has done decent mileage over winter, and has been used daily.

nice to see a bit of sunshine on the paintwork. still need to get the power boost valve on and get it rolling roaded. would be hopefull for anything above 70bhp. it drives much nicer with the new engine though.

thanks. wolfie you saw this car when i picked the gearbox up from you at mitp last year. jim, i have not had chance to get the pbv on there yet and get it set up. have limited the revs to around 5k, dont want it leaning out at high revs and melting parts. when i do get the fueling srted i will update with power figures. thanks

We usually go to a Castle Coombe and one of the bigger shows every year. For the last 6 or so years it has been Mini in the Park. It took us far too long to get there last year, pitched the tent in the pitch black and got burnt to a crisp. Not to mention the wasps everywhere!

Anyway this year we decided to try Beaulieu mini cooper day for a change. Left around mid day on Saturday, got there at 3 ish, pitched the tent, went to a local pub for beer and steak (usually get pissed in the camp site) – though we did this later.

Was a really nice drive down.

Thought id share a couple of pics of the car

All packed up, bonnet popped to check oil and water

the campsite at around sunset. There were no other minis at out site. Which was different. Had a really good time though and will definitely consider it again next year.

not the most flattering of lights for the paintwork

parked up at the show on the Sunday next to the old mans mini

finally had a spare hour to fit the power boost valve. jim, it does make a difference. the throttle response is far quicker and the car feels more responsive. with the cr 'box the acceleration is noticably quicker. running at the pre set setting at the moment, going to get it rolling roaded in the very near future to get fueling set up

its been a while since i updated this. this car is still my daily, booked 2 weeks off this summer to make sure that the bodywork was back up to scratch. got it back to as as new it is ever likely to get. that was 2 weeks of very long and tiring 12-14 hour days/nights!

nice drop of waxoil on the floor a few weeks later, when the sun finally came out...

my latest phone has a crap camera, the car looks a bit nicer in the flesh!
