Ordered some parts from Digikey US on Tuesday to build up Jean's new Quad Driver/COP board. By mistake really as I thought I was on the UK website :$

That's less than 48 hours from Michigan to Northants. Still had to pay UPS the VAT at the doorstep before he would hand over the parcel. But at least it was just the 15% VAT and no handling charge. 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

I have used them in the past and the tax is a pain. You do think it is a UK site. However, delivery and stocked parts is much better than the normal players.

Well I said I might try them "next time" and at the current GB£ vs US$ their prices were slightly better than Farnell and they had a couple of parts that Farnell didn't have the exact item, just an equivilant.

I live round the corner from CPC (part of Farnell) so I can just pop in to get any bits I need - they're a bit slow at picking the parts sometimes though. Don't think I've ever been in there for less than 30 minutes! Very good prices on components though - just don't buy anything for a computer from them, they're prices are about 6 months behind everyone else. On 15th Jul, 2009 fastcarl said:

Digikey have a great range but their shipping rates are crazy. I guess its because it has to be shipped over, but for that price you might as well use a local shop and get twice as much for the same price. |

Their shipping rates are crazy, BUT, if you hit £50, it's free now. And it's not difficult to hit £50 with the price of some chips now, eg, ignitors. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |
