Hi, looking into going the NA-T route. just wondered what peoples thoughts were on using the mg metro box? would this be a good choice? i have seen other commetns on the 850 or 1275, or even using the 998 just with stronger internals. what are peoples thoughts?

also what clutch would you suggest?

thanks Steve

First you have to ask what power you are running? In essance though all boxes are the same so MG or not makes no difference.

998 boxes are best as they hev had less abuse over the years.

My standard 70,000 mile box, diff, engine etc has easily coped with 10psi and around 90bhp

I ran the 70k clutch for a while, but it started to slip.

I bought the Minispares kit with the 190mm plate (standard verto kit). But the new spring in the kit was bobbins and the clutch slipped more than before. With a load of testing of verto springs in the garage (by standing on them) I found the strongets, fitted that and it has been fine.

Just remember, the metro turbo used a standard verto, and that had 90 odd bhp.

I run a standard box, diff and pre-verto clutch in mine its a gen AP one from minispares. Held up for a year so far with about 90 bhp.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

A lot of people on here either use a 12g295 cooper head, or pocket the block and shove a 1275 head on, are you looking to rebuild the engine or looking for a simple bolt on conversion?

oh yeah, go for the hif44
