I initially bought an SW5-07 for my 1098 build. That was back when I planned to build an NA engine. Plans changed as they do and I then assembled the turbo motor with the Swiftune cam.

After looking at timing figure for both cams i was shocked at how tame the SW5-07 is in terms of duration. The Metro cam has 24 degrees more exhaust duration with only 18 thou less lift. I'm sure I could make up the lift difference if I spent some time on rocker height.

I am now in a position where I may have to rip the turbo motor apart. Should i put my Metro cam in or would people be interested to see how the Swiftune cam works on a small bore turbo? There doesn't seem to be many builds using the SW5 so maybe people would value actuall rr figures for this cam.

So my question is, would people like to see some figures for a motor running the SW5 or should I just run with the safe bet that is the Metro NA?

I think that the two cams would each be good with a turbo, but for different purposes.

The SW5 with its low overlap would be good with a small turbo (T2) for a road car where torque is more important.

The MG would be better with a larger turbo (GT17?) in a race car. This is what Wil & Ben use.

I would like to see the results with the SW5, but only to fill in a gap in our information.

do you have a flip front/inner wings?

on 998's its not the hardest thing to change the cam 'in car'

if you were so inclined, you could do a back to back test

just the expense/effort ... :(

I'd like to see how the SW5 goes

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

my thoughts are the same as Paul S

the SW5 in a small bore motor would make intresting torque figures where it matters

Well it seems alot of people would be interested to see figures for the SW5.
Vegard, since you have the MG cam i a 1098 covered it would make for interesting figures to compare mine with an SW5.
Joey, I do have a removable front. I never even comprehended changing a cam in-car
So if you can all bear with me for about 6 years then we can have some interesting SW5 figures in a 1098 turbo *tongue*

The Sw 5 cam is fantastic in a na and I was planning to use it in a turbo engine for the minus but have just recently sold the engine to another furum member. Would be interesting to see the results as would still like to go this route in future.

I used sw5 in my CR9.3:1 998 NA and then converted to turbo. But I used a std 998 head. So it was pulling very well until 4000 and then the head was likely limiting the flow, so above 5000 it was a crap.

Alpa, I have a Benross 12G295 so the head will flow well *happy* Also I will be imposive a rev limit of ~5500 so I wont need much a cam to go any further

I don't like SW5 because it's not a "modern" cam as they pretend, it's a very usual profile since 80's. And the lift is quite high so you need double springs. However if your redline is at 5500 I'm sure you can use std springs, this will save few power and be cheaper.
I wish I could try the 295 I bought as well :) .
