A talk around Combe...

Ok, you'll leave the pit lane onto Folly, Folly is flat out, just keep your eyes in your mirrors.

Avon rise next, on your first lap take it steady, you want to be on the Righthand side of the track approaching Avon, line the car up so it is staight over the ridge. I dab the brakes and change down with a boot full of revs to match the revs before the crest. Then down to second once the car has settled. You'll see a traffic light in front, aim for that and dont turn in the Quarry too early, blend in out of the right hander feeding in the power and straight up through the box to the Esses.

Never brake and turn over Avon rise, keep safe as the car get very unsettled here.

The Esses, a simple chicane, use the black and white kerbs and again blend the car out using the rumble strips on the exit. As soon as you have exited The Esses ease the car to the LEFT ready for a good fast line into and out of Old Paddock.

Old Paddock Bend, bumpy!... having used the track to get to the left/middle at least the car will be almost set up for OPB, a little kerb and blend it out flat out down to and through Hammerdown.

Tower, narrow with a odd camber trying to chuck you off. Again, dont turn in too early. I take it in 2nd and hold on to revs bouncing off the limiter at 8500 until Bobbies, dont you try it!! You will hit 3rd for a short while.

Bobbies, another chicane, kerbs and blend it out using the rumble strips. After both chinanes beyond the rumble strips are some kind of green plastic, is is grippy so if you go over the rumbles don't panic.

Westway is a simple fast right hander, foot in hard towards Camp.

Camp, a very fast wide right hander, you'll approach fast, keep left, Brake hard, down to third(or do the lot together with heel and toe!) and don't turn in to early, clip the apex and blend it out taking off the lock a feeding the power in, use the outer rumble strips or get close to them.

Foot in back towards Folly.... Job done.

Keep in smooth, never turn in too early, if the back end steps out steer into it and keep your foot in, use your mirrors. Try to keep both hands on the wheel, don't dross your arms up.

Make sure your oil is between min and max at least.

This chap turns in too early, watch his under steer. He also does not get left after the Esses... But a good view of the circuit.

Yes I have a copy somewhere, lots of sideway show boating IIRC!

I tried to leave out the gear changes as know alot of different FD's and rev ranges are used.

My car is very rev happy on a 3.9.

Good write up.
Heed Jon's advice, especially around Avon & Quarry chaps. :)

Edit...personally I like the Esses, had lots of confidence around there.

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

i won't be going but i do remember near terminal understeer at quarry, whan i took the Don a few years ago,

slightly off topic but some performsance dats fron the circuit,

when i took Don, i had nitrous fitted,

on my first session, no gas i gould pull 7500 coming up avon rise, ,

with 25hp gas i could pull 8000 at the same point and with 50 hp i was pulling 8000 through folly, just about 1/2 a lap before i melted a piston, lol. but it was good fun,

I'm looking forward to it now, should be fun to take the DON for a run round, I expect it will attract some attention now it is painted too.
