As you are all probably aware most race circuits in the UK are subject to noise complaints which aim to further limit their use.

Most of these circuits have been in use for many decades but are now threatened by complaints from those who have bought nearby properties since the venue became established.

An on-line petition has been established which aims to invalidate such complaints, please read about it at

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/livewithit/ and if you agree please add your name.

IMO, the people who passed the planning for these houses should have built the possibility of noise into any purchase contract for the houses.

Its a disgrace how these whinging bastards can close everywhere down.

Some good news on an old subject
This is from the Javelin Trackdays newsletter...

Newsletter - August 2009

No apologies for a very long newsletter this month. We have alot to tell you.

Some days start out pretty much run of the mill. Answering the phone and emails relating to bookings and noise limits etc. The latter is always a thorny issue especially when it is regarding Elvington.

Then out of the blue you get a call that changes your day. Something along the lines of "Hi, its Elvington here. Just a call to let you know that our appeal against the Noise Abatement Order on the grounds of it being unreasonable has been successful. Thanks for all your help and support".

For those of you that are new to the Elvington story. Four and a half years ago York City Council served Elvington Airfields owners with a Noise Abatement Order. A subsequent appeal was lost and thousands of pounds were spent by the airfield owners fighting that and another appeal. They even hired their own full time Lawyer. You will all know how your Elvington entry fees increased dramatically but that did not even cover all of the costs. In the meantime Elvington introduced an Environmental Management plan that has seen drastic reductions in noise levels. Both exhaust and tyre. We have to thank those of you who supported both Elvington and Javelin through a very tough time whilst these measures settled down.

Evington's Owners have wisely decided to keep the current Environmental Management Plan in place and will no doubt be opening up a dialogue with YCC about formalisation of the same. Something the council were not prepared to do in the past.

Lets hope this repeated elsewhere ! :)
