i am planning on this engine spec

mg 1275 head
998 block
t2 turbo
metro manifolds
hiff44 turbo carb and standard plenum

but i was just wondering what camshaft would be best i have noticed alot of people putting metro 1275 in but because of everyone reading the advice before me you can get them cams second hand any more :( "i hate you all"

so here is some alternatives i have had put forward to me

Swiftune SW10
PIPER 649
mini mpi camshaft < told it is not the same then a carb

now if i could have some advice it would be brill

None of the above.

The MG metro cam can be bought new from Kent Cams, it's listed as a 500.

not real sure on it , was supplied by graham russel here in aus, give him a call for more detail he would be happy to tell you.

is timed in at 112* and has 0.290" lift thats all i know, but work really good, is specially made ffor turbo minis

Basicly, you don't want a fast road or full race N/A cam with a turbo.

was after spending as little as possible i got all my parts so far for really cheap and its only cost me 80 in total which i think is good got all manifolds the turbo the plate conversion thing fuel regulator turbo gauge
mg cylinder head hiff44 turbo carb

which is in my eyes cheap for all that
anyways

is there any other cams that i could possibly get second hand that would be relativly cheap

i guess the re13t is a wider lca version of the NA version which is a symmetric 276 duration 104.5 LCA 0.290 lift at the lobe and goes like stink.

but the cams you mention are quite different.

mpi (that is stock about 230 isch but any 998 cam would do okey i guess)
metty MG 255/268

there is a SW5 turbo version if you ask for it.

dunno.. it's a modern MD286 isch cam

649 about 300 degrees

the latter one are IMHO only good for a NA race build.

i'd say just put in a stock 998 cam to get it running
