Ive been struggling to get a vacuum reading for my ecu and I took the TB off today to have a look it is definitely plumbed in right and this is what I found..

Should I block that hole off that goes through and bypasses the butterfly. The only function I can see it having is so you can have the throttle fully closed and the engine keep running. Could this be the cause of lack of vacuum reading?

Cheers
Matt

if you have a hole that bypasses the butterfly I think that is used for an idle speed control valve. I'm guessing you won't be using one of these so my guess would be to block it off. :)

I can't see any harm in blocking it up I could just set the stop on the butterfly to leave it open a tad to compensate for it?

My TB closes completely and has a similar port from an idle adjustment screw. So I would not blank it off.

Can you get an idle take off from your plenum instead?

I possibly could with a bit of welding and drilling.

Would it make much difference having the take off in the plenum instead of the TB?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

IIRC, they reason jims wouldnt idle that well to start is because TD tigged that up *happy* TD?

i think that setting the stop shouldnt be a problem, just this is a neater way of doing it.

No, not really, but you know that there is nothing in the TB interfering with it. Does the butterfly block the vacuum port as idle, for instance?

If you have not got any vacuum, then i would double check the cam timing.

I believe that the K head normally runs in the other direction and has a different firing order, so it must be easy to get it wrong.

Yeah I believe the firing order is 1243 as ive just found out last week! Lol

Thats what confused me, I would of thought I would get some kind of vacuum even with that drilling.

Next job this weekend is double check valve clearances and cam timing.
