I thought I should start a thread, to show how the Coupe is coming along at the moment.

I have just been round to have a poke around Tim's GTM and these pictures don't do justice to how much work has been done on the tub so far. It is looking excellent though. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

Nice work ! I'm very jealous as my GTM is just parked up in my shed waiting in a line of projects to be finished, (I'll get there eventually) http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c248/spe...er1/mini007.jpg

I've now got all the panels to fit for the rear bulkhead and even have had time to get a coat of primer on the underside of the car. I just need to get the top coat and underseal on by the weekend, so the car can be turned over for the last time.

Would be nice, but I'm not putting any money on it. There are alot of big jobs that need doing (engine rebuild, make a wiring loom etc). Tim Rowe

I'm toying with the idea at the moment. The metro hubs that I've got on at the moment have been redrilled, but not to the PCD I'm thinking of. I was originally going to use a K series engine and was going to convert to 95.25mm, so I bought some wheels to match. I've started converting one hub and may change over to that, so I can use those wheels and also the studs are alot thicker, which I don't see as a bad thing.

A little bit more of an update. I've got the front suspension on the car finished.

Here are a few shots of the gear selector mechanism. It is fairly simple really.

stupid question but does that mean that all the gears are in the same position with the gearstick or are they back to front? Edited by miniboo on 28th Aug, 2008. |

All the gears are where they are in the mini. The only thing that you have to do, is to turn the plate on the bottom on the gear selector through 180 degrees, so that the gate for the reverse is in the right place, because it is now pointing in the opposite direction to the mini selector.

looking good Tim - ready for avon 2009? I think it has got a better chance than it did to get ready for 2008 I'm having a big push on it at the moment, to try and give myself a fighting chance of getting it ready. I won't stand a fighting chance in my class, but I've set myself a goal of beating the time of my old K3, which was about 15.5sec, that is if it gets there! You can make the car twin engine, but you wouldn't be able to see past the front engine, as the bonnet is loads lower than on the mini. The whole car is only 43". We struggle to fit the master cylinders in, let alone another engine. Tim Rowe
