Hi,
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you "The Contraption"

So any help with the following please. I've got 2 mpi injectors and a IAT sensor to fit....
Here's a view of the underside where I'd like fit the inj.

1 .. How far away from the pipe bore should the injector be?
eg. tip of the inj. flush with the inner wall of the pipe?
2 .. Best angle to mount the injector?
3 .. Injectors are staged, best positions to mount them.
4 .. Best position to mount the IAT, before or after TB?

Cheers,
Gavin :)

gavin thats going to fire the air and fuel down one leg of the cast alloy part that bolts to the head , it needs to feed the manifold evenly ,eg connect to the manifold straight on ,pointing at the head ,er ,does that make sense ?

thinking about it a bit more , could you curve the pipe upwards vertically curling around the comp housing and then branching off to lie paralel with the turbo inlet ?

Hi,
That makes sense.
I've not got any room to go with plan B
though :(
Can I put the inj at the cast manifold face instead?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

any chance in putting a slight kink in it as it comes off the manifold so as that it will go up above the crossmember on the bulkhead and then runs parrallel with the engine? basically so as that you can get a more straight entry pipe into the manifold.

then you could possibly place two injectors before the bend and 1 after/just before the manifold. presuming you are using three for some reason?! i have no idea why!!!!

or just two 1: pre-bend 1 on manifold face?

etc etc blah blah blah. i have no idea on injector placement so thats just a sort of sense guestimate type thingy.

the main point of this was to see of you could kink the pipe up so as that you could run it above the crossmember if you get what i mean?

Hi,
Space is at a premium :(

The injectors have got to go underneath as I need room for the oil drain from the turbo :(
Think I'll have to go for up by the cast manifold face to keep the distribution problem of a minimum....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

gavin , whereever the throttle body is , you allways need to have a straight shot to the manifold so both legs get an even chance .can you do a pic of a side view ?

Before having found an MPi plenum I was thinking of a 3cm insert between the intake and the head. Inserts would be drilled at say 30 degrees to hold injectors. I don't think it's a problem having them below the manifold.

Put IAT after the throttle as at low loads/idle air tends to stay here and is hotter than ahead throttle.

i think what the theyre trying to say is that flow is going to favour this route:

rather than this route:

so the flow ideally needs to come vertically from the bottom, top (exhaust in the way) or inline (bulkhead is in the way), so it looks like the flow direction really needs to come from directly below the inlet

that 2nd one is what i want but further back so i can see the whole turbo to bulkhead clearance in ther frame , im wondering now gav wether you could swing the pipe down then sideways ?

Hi,
I could Robert, but it's all welded up now :(
Is it an airflow problem or fuel flow problem?
Would putting the injectors central (from underneath) in the mouth of the cast inlet be suitable?
Either side by side or one behind the other?
I'll try and get you a pic of that.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

How much clearance is there between the turbo and the bonnet?

What I'm thinking is something along the lines of:

Putting a spacer between the exhaust manifold & the turbo to raise the turbo slightly. The kick the inlet up slightly so it runs straight back and the put the bend on top of bulkhead section.

joey's summed it up nicely in his pics , the airflow down the far leg will be much more and the distribution needs to be much more even gav.
