I have used them many times over the years and have recomended them several times in the main forum but this latest dealing is something special even by their standards!!

First off I wanted a body kit for Candice's car but not one of the common ones oh no, all I had was a picture and that was the one I wanted.

I e-mailed them the picture and the follwoing day I got a phone call something along the lines of "that's loverly but no idea what it is I'll find out though". I did a bit of sulking about and with the help of a member of this site worked out what it was.
I then rang ABS and they promised to have a hunt around for one for me. THREE DAYS ..... that was all it took before they came back saying "we've found one, do you still want it". Well obviously I asked about prices and the like and soon told him to get it for me.

Anyway for a multitude of reason it took several months to get the kit to ABS HQ but through each step they stayed in contact and where completely open and honest about what the situation was.

When he got it he was a little disappointed with the quality of the mouldings and in fact he said "it's ok but not for what your building, your after perfection and this isn't it. Do you want me to relaminate it and see if I can make it better or would you like me to mould it and you can have the first one out of the mould?". This obviously meant that the kit was modified from the original specification a little but to be honest I think this is an improvement over the original.

After much thought I agreed to have the first one out of the mould. I also ordered a bonnet which was slightly out of the ordinary, something they had not done before.

From that conversation to recieving the kit and bonnet it was only 7 days. The packaging was so good that it took Candice and I over half an hour to get the parts unpacked, no chance of damage at all!!!

All I can say is the mouldings are better than first class, they are immaculate. If the car was white I could clear coat them and fit them as supplied!!! The laminate thickness is perfectly uniform except where extra support was thought necessary and then it is blended in with a loverly smooth radius.

I know what your thinking by now, how much did this all cost????? Well the short answer is a very reasonable price comparable with buying some of his off the shelf items and much cheaper than something like the Zeemax kit (which I had on my turbo and it didn't fit at all ..... not even slightly!!!)

In short no matter what you want, front ends, bonnets, arches or kits you are not going to find better quality or better value.

Body Kit? Lump of plastic adding no useful function to the car?

And you have the damn cheek to slag off those of us who drag race?

You have to have arches to keep the car legal.

A decent air damn on the front end helps a lot with the air flow around and under a Mini (front subframe / gearbox messes up the air a lot compared to the closed of bays of modern cars), potentially improving cooling, reducing lift and reducing drag (although the later point is unlikely unless it's scraping the deck) ....... You have a whopping great, and rather unsighly, air damn on the front of the Don do you not Tom?

So the addition of side skirts to prevent the whole thing looking like a dogs breakfast is perfectly valid.

Also for some people, my other half whos car it is for example, appearence is important too. If the car is a show car anything which attracts attention is serving a useful purpose!

Be quite interesting to see 1/4 mile times going for aero. Not sure what kind of performance & power justifies the expense though.
Is the driver consistant enough for an accurate test? I don't think its really worth it to be honest. Bonnet off & go for gold is the way forward. *wink*
Sitting on the fence...but Miglia bits do look sexy.

What about ripping someone's existing design off. if it was me who did the original, irrespective of the quality, I would be biting the bolloc*s off the man who copied it.
Glad you have lost the stupid sig.

it's not an exact copy of original, arches, skirts and front spoiler are all different from the original. Think of it more as inspired by rather than a rip off. It was made quite clear to me that he felt that he had to do something slightly different. As I have said his interpretation is actually even closer to what I wanted than the orignal!!!!!!!

If you think about what goes on in that world how many people have a Zeemax-a-like kit, RS style bonnets, smoothy boot lids, Miglia arches. Each companies are slightly different from each others but to the casual observer, especially off the car, they all look so similar they can't be distigiushed from each other.

ABS often work with other companys, such as Curley. As far as I know they acknowledge the sources on the website and where it is their own product they don't do direct copies of anybody elses designs.

Anyway the message, which seems to have become a little blurred in all this, is that I consider ABS Motorsport to be the best for quality and service in the GRP industry supporting the Mini scene.

Buy with confiedence.

I appreciate the link!

When I was trying to order a fiber glass front I had all sorts of trouble.

I will probably go the clubman route this winter, so I may give them a try.

Just used ABS again & very pleased with them.

A few things to add, one they sell genuine Curley CF bits as well as there own fibreglas products.

Also they do a rather generous Turbo Minis discount on fibreglass parts & a slightly smaller discount on the CF bits.

As I am not from England I find it cheaper and easier to send e-mails, but thanks for the info!
