The smallest jobs always seem to take ages.

My fuel rail components all machined from solid bar.

I'm going to silver solder them to some 16mm dia tube.

That's all from 316 stainless bar.

I cant believe it has taken me two months to finish these.

Could be something to do with the 4 MOTs, acquiring a fifth Mini and fitting the 12G295 head to Sturgeo's motor.

Looking good, are you going to put any insulation between the fuel rails & the turbo?

Lookin good axel.
Will it be a tight fit under the bonnet or will it be fairly spacious?

I'm going to wrap the exhaust manifold and probably make a sheild.

If you think about it, the rails are further away from the turbo than the HIF float chamber, so I'm not too worried.

It should all fit under the bonnet as the plenum is no higher or further back than the standard air cleaner.

Maybe if I do nothing about it.

I'm going to wrap the exhaust mainfold and fit some kind of shield.

There will always be fuel going though the injector amd air through the runner, cooling it to a certain extent, but then I dont want the fuel getting too hot so that it vaporises.

As I said above, the fuel injectors and rails are no closer then the carb would normally be.

sweeet stuff!

Remind me - this is (will be?) a 998 turbo? Or are you just using this as an engine stand?

It is a 998 turbo. I built the engine last winter, just waiting for the EFI to fit it.

Here's the build thread:

sorry to dig, but im trying to find out what size to bore my own injector bungs out to?

what is it in MM whats safe sizes?

ive seen somewhere you can have

0.535" +- 0.005"

and

0.540" - 0.545"?

i have bought a 13.5mm reaming tool which would approximately = 0.531"? so would this be ok for my 14mm o-rings?

also, i have an 18mm bore fuel rail, would this be fine for my fuel supply to 4x injectors (440cc) for turbo use.

Thank you, Johnny.

Ah, those were the days......

The nominal size is 14mm, but that can be a bit loose.

They should be nice and tight with 13.5mm. I'll measure my latest ones later.

I used 14mm and that was fine with new O rings.

Out of interest (Johnny), where did you get the reamer ???

I couldn't find any fully parallel ones (all standard reamers have a lead-in which is more than the depth of an injector socket) so I just drilled them.

Ive just done a set of 8 of these in stainless for my new rails,

a little hint, have a look on ebay for GSXR injectors like these, they seem to turn up real cheap, but it seems they are pretty good, they are a multi hole design (12 holes) that gives good atomosation and they flow about 420cc, but the rail end is smaller than normal, it needs an 11mm hole, but it appears that you can just slap a on rings on from a 14mm injector.

I measured up the Miglia ones and they are all 13.7-13.8 mm.

Is that the OD of the injector body itself Paul ???

They need a bit of clearance in the recess for the O ring to centralise and also to allow a bit of sideways movement within the O ring for any misalignment or expansion issues. That's why I thought 14mm was the prefered hole size.
