right the prob i have is due to the turbo on the bk of the 998 i have to have a non-breather tappet chest cover so how to i get the engine breathing as much as it should?

i have a breather pipe on my 70's rocker cover & belt drive case, do i need one from the block, if so where do i take it from? i'm out of ideas

i'm not sure how much breathing an engine needs to be honest!

is it better to put the breather pipes in an oil catch tank thingy!

i wish i looked closer at ppls cars avon now! grrrr

Hi,
You could stick one on the transfer housing a la 1275. Yes catch tank is best.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

i'll have to drill & tap my housing then, & i'll use the breather from my tappet cover & weld that to a pipe & make a base to go on the housing! should do the job!

will those three be enough, i'm saying that but i hope its enough with all this turbo pipework :/ frickin loads!

as reagurds the catchtank, i'm in preferance to make my own, out of mild steel, are rubber pipes & jubilee clips ok to mount the breather pips, do i just route the 3 pipes to a tank that has a breather filter on? gonna have a look on ebay at what these things look like

Hi,
That'll do it. I thought about putting some of that wire wool type stuff that's in the standard breathers, in the catch tank. But that's as far as I got.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

is the wire woll needed, i mulled over the idea of taking it out of my breather or am i wrong to do so!

i have some oo gauge wire wool i clean some parts with, you get those stainless scouring pads now too *happy* a couple in a breather, wont corrode like mild!

i'll have to get the welder out again, bugger buying one! they are pricey & i like satin blk paint finishs lol *happy*

You only need the wire woll if you are feeding back into the carb, not needed for a catchtank.

With the mirage manifold you can use a modified back plate still.

All I have on the TT is one on the flywheel cover and one on the rockerbox.

Either make the catchtank easy to remove so you can tip any oil out, or put a drain plug in.

would it be possilbe to fit a drain to the catch can and drain it back in to the engine via the breather on the crank case(mg and turbo engines have)

only an idea correct me if it will not work

this is what a friend of mine does on his 106 rally car to prevent him running out of oil after 5 mins, his engine breathes extremely heavily when booted

This is how I've done mine.

Just cut off the flame trap and weld in a pipe.
