Datalogging the Rover MPi system...

I have just secured a (loan of a) datalogging unit that will do 12 channels at 50K Hz for use in a few weekends time.

I also have an MPi available.

I'll be making leads and 'piggybacking' on the MPi injectors. I'll also be knocking up a crank sensor on the outside of the MPi pulley so we have a TDC reference.... I would use the crank sensor, but I have no idea where TDC is in relation to the complex four missing teeth and the cam sensor arrangements. A new TDC reference is (despite being a PITA to implement just for this test) probably going to be easier to figure out...

This has taken a long time in coming, as finding a unit that'll do over 10K Hz (remember 36teeth at 5000rpm is 3000 pulses per second!!! - multiplied by three to get a reasonable resolution) is not exactly something you can find at Walmart...

I had access to a 10K Hz overall (ie 1x 10K, or 2x 5K, 3x 3.3K etc) datalogger, but felt that the MPi baseline data needed to be as good as we can get.

This will all point the way towards the ideal injection strategy hopefully. It'll also answer a lot of questions, and hopefully dispell many myths / theories about the A-series MEMS injection sequence. :) :) :) :) :) :)

That sounds just the ticket Dave. I've put my MPi in the hole, but that's as far as I've got :(
As you say, knowing how Rover did it would give a good base to start from...

I came up against the same problems you did - I could only log at idle and because of that didnt really bother with it...
