Ive tried pushing it through with my finger and it wont budge, plus there shouldnt really be that much vacuum on the plenum should there?

it's usually easier to replace the butterfly for one without the poppet valve Team www.sheepspeed.com Racing

jim i think your thinking of the popet valve on teh butterfly as opposed to the over boost valve on the plenum (as being discussed) turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

I use an ultrasonic bath on a regular basis, it works like nothing else esp. on carbs and dizzies, these kind of complicated things will look brand new, wait and see iain's pics. just do not put fingers in the bath whilst its working. It will take all chalk of your bones.

I just soldered mine shut and ground the excess off using a die grinder leaving enough to keep it in place firmly That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

I chucked the inlet pipe away and made my own without a valve in it. The inlet pointed in the right direction for an intercooler AND had a take-off for a dump valve.

Mine is totally different to this. The Valve portion of the inlet to the plenum has been cut off, and a piece of sheet metal has been bolted back into the space left.

sorry to drag out an old post but i did the search and this came up.Whats the consequencies of not blocking this valve off?, reason i ask is i seem to be getting loads of air going into the engine at idle, can this be a fault with the poppet?, also, when its been run then restarted, i see a lot of whispy smoke emerge from around the plenumn, i hasten to add there are no leaks from any gaskets. 133.5 bhp 123 lb torque 116mph @6640rpm 9.5psi
