First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

I had a quick skim of it

Im not sure if there is a best way to break them in i.e.

For a ducati engine its supposed to be best to be quite harsh with them

On my dads A4 they said that the oil consumption problem was due to the fact he had been too gentle with it

But hondas are supposed to use alot of oil if they havent been gently run in

I just try and keep my engines below 4000rpm, change the oil at 200 miles, then am not quite so gentle with it untill 500miles, and then go from there

But everyone has a different method, and everyone has a different opinion

Parisien Turbo Expert

Paris\' suburb

the best break in : as it's a pure headacke, and don't like aspirine
just drive it as you would if you were not in brakage, just make rapid oil/filter change,
done
*happy*

Well aren't you just a smarty pants!! *tongue* jk.

Yeah I knew about stuff like smaller ports and the rest of his articles, but the 'easy' break-in is starting to sound like a conspiracy theory with the manufacturers.. *surprised* scary but it makes a lot of sense..

Like they say so long as your not foot on the floor everywhere all the time running upto about 80% load and allow for some time off the throttle for cooling and so the bearings don't get continue battering all should be well.

I used to do it the old way. But my last few new cars I have given them fairly hard time but not flat out. So far no problems.

I have heard that about audi TT that they use lots of oil. The only way to stop that is to get them run in and stop the oil getting past the rings. So I guess if they use lots of oil there will be even more reason to give them full chat as the oil will be lubricating and cooling the rings and bores.
