Hi all, can anyone tell me if the pumps in the SPI and MPI tanks kick out the same pressure? Ie. are the pumps the same with pressure being governed by the regulator?
Cheers
David

The pumps are different.

SPi - 1 Bar pressure
MPi - 3 Bar pressure

Yes, I've just swapped an SPI tank for an MPI tank and the MPI is MUCH heavier.

Certainly don't seem to be able to get as much fuel in Candice's stock MPi tank as I could in the SPi tank in my old turbo mini ... might be due to foam filling or baffling or similar .... who is going to cut one open to find out???? LOL

As far as I am aware the fuel pressure is controlled at the rail and both pumps are capable of delivering similar pressures to a closed system. I was under the impression however that the MPi set up was capable of a few extra litres per minute flow but have no evidence to back this up.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

The SPI pump stalls if you try and get it to deliver more than 1.5 bar. I know, I've tried!!

Ok, as I say every day is a school day!!

I might have to fire up my MPi tank and see what it can do both pressure and flow wise .... now where the hell have I put it??????? Seriously .... I've not seen it for months!

Thanks guys, got the option of a cheap SPI tank so think I'll go ahead with that and stick another pump in there.
Can always add some foam if need be at a later date

I fitted a Fiesta/Puma pump in my SPi tank:

Great stuff guys, thought you would have 'been there, done that'! In fact I think I have a Mondeo pump in the shed.....

I will probably be struggling on the external connector for the power supply but I expect one of the suppliers will be able to help there

Cheers

Is there any notable external distinguishing features of an mpi/spi tank? I have one that is supposed to be an Mpi (it feels real solid so must be foam filled) but just want to know for sure.

If you tap it with your hand, it sounds dull, almost like it was lined with foam (LOL).

Wheras the SPi one sounds tinny and like a drum or dustbin lid that one of those dancers from the hit musical 'STOMP' has just twatted with a stick whilst perfoming their wierd-ass dance routine.
