I'm liking all the self learning bits and bobs it has!

May come in useful. Just need to get on with the 16v head and sort the injection and i'm away!

Then i'll be needing a good clutch..TD *wink*

I will give them a call tomorrow and order the upgrade for mine. Do you know if it is a cd/download or return to base upgrade?

It's funny to see that most of their new features seem to be replicating what Megasquirt does either in the base code or in the extra code. I'm not saying that's where they got the idea from but I wouldn't be surprised.

It's fine to see what your competitors are doing and try to beat them at their own game. It just interesting to see that the big names are starting to see Megasquirt as a competitor and improving on their features. Everyone's going to benefit from this.

A lot of the features in that new release were planned before MS even started. DW has never seen MS as a threat (I am a different matter, but we have resolved that little issue). The selling point with emerald is the tuning service, which if you factor that in makes it great value for money. The new firmware is about 3 years late due to business pressures and feature creep, so is really just bringing the M3D up to date with other commercial offerings.

Thanks for correcting my misperception, Bill. I still think it's interesting to see the similarities.

Good service will always be a good differentiator between similar products. And if you can't or don't want to tune your car then going with the ones who will does make sense.

Having said that, I would have thought that most of the people here would have preferred to do this themselves and know the ins-and-outs of all the parts of their car but that's probably another of my biased misperceptions. :)

Jean, I know to people like us tunning an engine is just another job to do on the car, like wiring in the lights. But to some it's a real challenge and a bit scary, even people on here.

Come to think of it there are many people out there that think wiring in the lights is a bit scary.....

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I have found, in my travels in MS land, that there are those who just can't be bothered. I had a couple of people who had built their cars from the ground up, but just couldn't get their heads around MS. My view has always been that, if you can build the car, you can tune it aswell.

I contacted Emerald yesterday, good news is my ECU is compatible. Bad news is that it is indeed a return to base update, and they have a short backlog at the moment. Apparently it is selling like hot cakes. Gives me time to get my wideband in place I suppose *smiley*

I see V-max scart is selling a superchargerkit for mpi with Emarald, does that mean that the Emarald is working on a a-serie without the supercharger too??

Emerald themselves do not believe their ECU will do port injection on an A-series. Not sure what the difference is - if you get my drift.

I think What vmax are doing is using it as an "electrical carb"

I'm pretty sure the injectors are before the blower.

I have the K3 running a Jenvey throttle body as a wet manifold solution. I am not using the MPI injection manifold. I am running NA.

If you look at the pictures on Vmax website there seems to be a throttle body on the inlet so I assume it it the same method, also if you look at his supercharger to cylinder head manifold there are no injection bosses.

This is a picture of mine, basically acting as an electronic SU.

PS ignore the computer fans, a failed experiment, now in the skip *smiley*
