Ha!

I just spotted your quote!

i actualy posted that without looking at the price... thats good for what there is there.

The only reason i never tried the K conversion and went for a 7 port was the stuff like this that was needed... bugger!

As I know Mr Kimmins will see this, Can we make suggestions for products??

I have one that may be benifical to others.

I came across them at MITP, and I reckon talking to them was the high light of the show.

I believe that they had dealings with John K when he developed his bimmer conversion:

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=9712

Also I believe that they are supplying the kits to Morspeed who are selling twin cam engines.

They haven't had dealings with JohnK - they ARE JohnK.

And you are very correct that they supply the same parts to Morspeed. The idea, design, etc is all John's doing however.

hello folks - thanks for the feedback its much appreciated. I've kept the price keen to enable guys like myself/TM folk to put together cost effective conversions whichever way they want to go about it. SC will be offering a load more K specific components in the near future - Oct/Nov time, to enable the conversion to be even easier - watch this space!

Mini13 - please do put forward ideas for other designs, if there is a market and it fits in with the billet theme we'll do it!

cheers

Vegar - you could try Motorworks or James Sherlock - I believe they both have parts on the shelf at the moment- though I must admit to hoarding a couple myself - are you planning on going 16v or 8v?

cheers

Vegar - we may be able to have a better discussion on this when I have the flow results for the 8 v head - hopefully today - I have the figs for a 16v head so they can then be compared like for like for pros/cons

cheers

going by the size of the valves in the 8v head, I doubt there will be a huge difference in it. Whats you're guess john before you get the figures?

Hi Jim - Difficult to say - I think peak flow will be down due to the valve area of two 26.5mm valves v 1 34mm, std 16v head flows 130cfm inlet at 10mm lift, exh flows 108cfm at 10mm lift. I hope that the 8v - unmodified gets towards 115-120cfm, exhaust probably around 100cfm. I think the interesting point will be when the engine goes on the dyno as 8v engines with hemi heads are renowned for producing the goods at the bottom end of the rev range as well as the top - we'll see, I'll let you know later

Lets just get some shit straight shall we guys,

Ive not posted on here for a long time as i no longer have any interest in a forum full of incorrect information.

But i had a phone call the other day telling me about this post, So i will tell you all the real deal.

John Kimmins asked about my 16v 'K' conversion in march 2006, when i told him i had just dyno'ed one at 162bhp he was VERY interested.
As i wanted one of the conversions out in the race world ASAP i agreed to do all the machining free of charge. In return i get a BIG plug for all my hard work.

So, i bored his block off-set 73.5mm, fitted a 4-bolt steel main cap & line bored it, pluged the top face and re-drilled ready for the 16v head.
John supplied a 16v head so i welded up the oil drains and welded in the step plate.

I then supplied him with the cam pullys, cam adaptors, step plate, front plate, tensioner, belt and bottom pully. His comment when he seen MY designs was "i could CAD draw them and make them exclusive to morspeed"
I agreed but said i needed them ASAP as i had a demo car which was 90% ready to run and was to be featured in a magazine.
The months past and i had nothing, then it just happens Johns car is running and ready to go, my parts then arrived just as Johns car was featured in PPC magazine. coincidence?

Now my copied designs are for sale on SC website.

Pissed off? yes very.

PPC magazine tell me there was no mention of morspeed, and minimag have also approached John kimmins about a joint feature with myself but this was refused by John as he does not want to be associated with morspeed.

Stabbed in the back? thats how i feel.

Well my conversion is now made by KentCams and i can offer all the parts john does for the same price BUT it will also include the bottom pully, 38T jackhaft pully (so you can use a dizzy) and the cam belt.

Morspeed----
The choice of champions!
Ask yourself? why do most championship winning minis use morspeed?

Simon.

Thanks for setting the record straight. I'm very surprised you don't have a NDC agreement with SC, at least as the originator of the design.

I had always wondered why you hadn't posted here for a long time - your public dis-agreement with the "forum full of incorrect information" regarding this site is admittedly very true aswell sadly.

I can only suggest you try one of the 'other' forums where an opinion can become fact in the merest of mere eye-blinks. I think those will be much more suited to your requirements, and are rarely frequented by members on here, as we hate all that factual nonsense. This is my opinion of course.

Regards,
Dave

Its a reasonable article though journalistic enthusiasim has taken over in places, few glaring mis-quotes and it didn't mention the fact that Simon @ Morspeed did the block work, head welding for mine and is in the process of putting kits together for those inclined to go this way. why don't they let you proof read first?

I dont want to argue Dave, if you want to know fact about what i have done with regards to the 'K' 16v ask your mate. and i agree, an agreement in writing would have been more proffesional, but i also take a mans word. (silly me)

Well done to jimster, but ive got the T-shirt already dude.

I would like to keep posting and being part of this forum but sadly i have lost all respect for some of the members who use it as a battle field.

Strangely - first thing that happened when SC approached me about my clutch, was a NDC - even before I'd had time to draw breath and share any of my work. I didn't ask - it just appeared, but I was requested to sign it before shaing any of my designs.

On the account of you calling JK a plagiarist and basically a liar, this appears to be a dispute amongst two comapnies, and hence beyond a public web forum like TurboMinis.

I'm pretty sure that if you feel strongly enough about this, then you should get yourself lawyered up. Of course, if SC decided to, you could well find yourself needing a lawyer anyways?

As of right now, I'm pulling rank and locking this. Sadly that doesn't give SC right of reply - and as such this appears to be one-sided. This is an unfortunate consequence, but sadly neccesary.

For everyone else; This matter is only between SC and Morspeed. Please do not discuss in any other post or section on TM.
