edit: update on the radiator, got it fully welded and tested for leaks, found 3, 2 pin pricks in my welding and also 1 pinprick in the the rat bastards welds who built it

also who the hell decides to make end caps out of 0.8 mm aluminum i had a night mare trying to tig to that i think i ended up on about 30 amps and 20 seconds to get a weld pool going , also spent nearly 2 hours chasing a pin prick up and down one of the welds hahaha





today i attacked the dizzy, yes the dizzy, it always amuses me with the electronic ability of today ( i mean japs has coils on plugs 25 years ago )why they still use dizzys, anyway this one is fairly smart, inside there is a 24 tooth 'crank' sensor a 4 tooth piston tdc sensor and a 1 tooth cam phase sensor, a coil and the distribution section ( rotor arm and stuff)

now because im going to be running coil on plugs and full sequential injection and spark i dont need the 4 tooth tdc sensor the coil or the dizzy but i do need the 24 tooth and the 1 tooth

so i decided to take this baby for a little spin... in my lathe
the first pic shows the size of the bloody thing... look at it !!

I have absolutely no idea what youve just done but it all looks very impressive and its stuff like this on turbominis that make me feel like i only use half my brain power

just a picture to put in to perspective the amount of space not to mention weight saved

brett, I can ask at the garage RE the coil but it will likely need postage cost; if you can get something local, all the better

on them vag coils (what i run) the very bottom of the coil *just* grips over the hex part of the sparkplug. the working guts of the coil extend down a little into the perforated bit IIRC. incase your thinking of modifying them :)

ohh right, that makes them very short then doesnt it? might have to bin that idea

still researching what the high power s2000 / k series engines use coil wise, it seems alot move the the b series ht leads and use big coilpacks :(

i actually want to run these little beauties ( R8 coils but im reluctant to fork out untill i can get some solid dimentions )

I'm pretty sure the r8 coils are the same as the 2.0tfsi coils out of the mk5 golf or similar
