Thanks. We can use full throttle in first, it just doesn't move very far....

The run I filmed was on 10psi and was massivly rich at the bottom end. I would expect the smoke was excess fuel as it transitioned to boost.

Hmmmm i would have upped the boost a tad more though and tried it on 20 psi.........anyway WELL done

We're at the limit of the bleed valve unfortunately....

We'll pop over one evening and you can have a good run in it.

I guess the proof is in the quarter mile - can we improve on the 14.6 with 153 Smart Rolling Road bananas....

Agreed on two counts Steve, one its a top job- I really like this little van and two yes I would very much like to try and get mine on there at some point in the future, be warned though, depending on the result-I may be knocking on your door for more power-fuck drilling holes in things-more boost is the way forward!

Got the front shockers fitted today (only had them 3 years). Hopefully they will help with the torque steer.

Also got the interior stripped out and fitted an old bucket seat to a metro subframe.




We reckon we've taken around 55-60KG's out so hopefully that will make bit of a difference on the strip. I don't envy John driving it down to Avon.

Given it a little fettle tonight.

Weighed new seat it saves us 5kg over the original. Also lost about another 5kg with tactical use of the chisel and angle grinder.

Also rigged up a cold air feed to the air filter and installed a little valve so we can turn the part throttle lean off on/off. Should save us some fuel when pootling round on low boost.

well thanks for coming over to the Benross HQ john ............ my nerves are still frayed after you took me out for a blast...... with my feet pushed firmley!! into the dash and window........ i thought my time had come this van has been seriousley transformed its a killer motor to say the least.... the power spread is from way low down and all the way to around 7k its staggering!!!!! is an undestatement for a 5 porter heres a little clip of the motor running on only 6 psi of boost its ............................. NUTS!

well done gents have safe fun for god sake should do very well at Avon .......

mind you john had the hand trembles as well on max boost 17 psi ...but theres another 4psi still to come ....WOW!!!

Had a busy week sorting out the post Avon repairs and preparing for a bit of sprinting this weekend.

Valve stem oil seals are back where they belong (no smoke now) and we now have a new centre mount and redesigned rear mount on the exhaust. The other half of the rear mount snapped on the way back from Avon, John had to drive the last 50 miles with no exhaust fitted from the gear change back....

Then onto the suspension. The torque steer at Avon was bordering on dangerous. Turns out the front passenger hydro-gas can had collapsed and wasn't really doing much.

New can's all round, chopped for a 30mm drop. We've pumped them up to about 550psi, meaning we only have around a 20mm drop. The ride is loads better now and it almost feels like we have control of it

You're a bad influence Robert. It's still got to carry weight so it'll have to do as is. Although it may go down a bit further over the winter (bit of a pain to get the hydro can s out).

Get it down, you don't see JF's race Metro up on stilts like that.
