Stunning.

Not exactly a straighforwad conversion is it.

We've had this discussion before, it's no use without a reverse gear *wink*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Haha not in this thread we haven't. But im also not getting sucked into the whole has or hasn't it got reverse senario. *hehe!*

Wil - yeah its kind of growing arms and legs since I started. *oh well*

minivan63 - Drops are actually very simple now I have the layshaft designed up. As soon as I get the bearings bored into place I'll take the last few measurements for the shaft and get it into machining. Drops will be next on the list after that. :)

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Well the shell is looking pretty sorry for itself, but im hoping to get some paint on it over the weekend. Ive also started making a mock up diffuser ready for when I get some ally. I hate this stage in a build, feels like I spend hours with the grinder but doesn't feel like any progress, parts scattered everywhere with little room to work! *oh well*

I managed to sneak into the machine shop at work and do some milling to the box ready for some boring...Now comes the tricky make or break point. lol

Cranleigh, surrey

your be pissed off big time if you crack the case or the diff explodes and takes the box with it........but i'm sure you have that covered, after all the first time is the most difficult.

Pissed off would be an understatement, im trying to make so that all the bike gears and mini gears are unmodified, so if they break it'll be a straight swap out...as the saying goes, nothing ventured nothing gained though! :)

After 8 hours in the garage ive managed to get to the stage where it just needs the last coat of primer then top coat. Im looking forward to building it back up now...lots of new bling parts to go on. *tongue*

Looking good.

10 coats of stone chip is now required, and 23 top coats to keep the good finish...

That should slow you down

Do you ever sit down?

Looks in good order. 1 coat acid etch, 2 coats colour

I seriously doubt it!

You don't want too much etch, I'd go with 22 of primer filler and then 5.5 months of prep

Well I manged to get the floor painted despite my compressor running out of puff. Another thing to fix (warning to anyone looking to buy a cheap compressor...Don't!) Nearly everything on it has broken soo far and its only 2 years old.

How do you manage to spray in the temperatures recently ?

I,m waiting for spring before I attempt to spray even the underbody.

In the past I have sprayed cellulose in the open in November with a spray gun in one hand and a fan heater in the other, but its not a recommended technique.

Dave - It started snowing just after i mixed the paint today. I ended up heating the panel with a heat gun then having the heater sat next to it in between coats. It may bloom a bit, but im not too bothered as its only the underside...I had to keep reminding myself that, every time I went into OCD mode flatting out minor dents. *hehe!*

Adam - I'll keep you posted, I may well make a few more if people like it.

Haha my motivation is trying to get it ready for avon this year. Ive got an unbelievable amount of work to do before then though.

I need to get the shell finished so I can wheel it out of the garage to get to my engine that needs to come apart. *hehe!*
