Hahaha i could imagine that, it is very light. Much lighter than it looks. Amazingly stiff compared to the standard one to.

I think at this rate, the car might just hit 500kg.

I missed the bottom of the last page! Thats some more good savings! What had u done to ur subby? I guess youd roughly saved 2-3kgs but cant see any obvious holes from the last shot of the front cut off

Not much, just trimmed it a bit and added a few holes, not gone to town. Standard mine should have been 16.7KG.

Been a little while! I made some steady progress, then had about a month of doing other stuff, Including smashing my face up 🤣. Much to many’s amusements!

Got the front end GRP fillered.



Etch primed.



Then high build.



Got the frame back in to trial fit the engine.



With a lot of faffing about it went in, had to add some shims under the engine mounts to get it to clear a few bits of the frame but it’s all good.



I then got the front end on again and realised the frame hangs quite low at the front. Apparently this is normal.



Wasn’t to keen on it so I have added a front lip, bolted to the frame. Again not to keen, but I will probably re visit it. Will give some needed downforce!



Lip and oil cooler location, will have to duct the cooler through the lip.



Knocked up some Ti engine steady brackets to go off the front.

Oh 😳 thats a shame, when ya see stuff like that hanging down its normally a dead giveaway for some ugly honda, redtop or bike conversion..

Im sure you'll make that splitter work tho 👍

In an effort to make things easier, I’ve relocated the oil filter.

Made a take off.



Completed and hung of the frame on the drivers side.



Rad roughly in place. I am changing the feeds so it’s on the drivers side.



Added an extra return lip around the scuttle to add some strength back in and when the fronts fitted it will look correct through the panel gap.



Then painted it!

A nice little weight saving here. Going from big stainless bolts to Ti studs on the subframe.





Got the frame back in again mounted up with new spreader plates against the body etc.

Back up to date now. Spending next couple of days on it so hopefully get a lot done.

Dave, Cheers! Should of said hello. I’ve not had it set up properly yet so couldn’t say for sure if it’s improved it. Definitely feels more rigid than the steel frame.

Roy, I dodged them on the L2B! Did ground out and get stuck on a rock though!

Bit of a catch up. It's done (again) and on the road.

The intercooler was made up by TCK and bigger with a pro alloy core so should be more efficient.



I made up a nice alloy duct for it.



Which fitted like so.



Had a bit of a clearance issue.



resolved!



Front end all fitted up.



Is a bit low!



Got a new gear linkage sorted with some welding help from a mate.



Went to Blyton park, had a good day. Although i hadn't set up the wheel alignment quite right so handling was a little off. managed to punt it into a cone at one point! Thankfully i hadn't painted it so could repair the damage easy enough.

Got a new passenger seat mount sorted again with some welding from a friend.



Got the new front end painted. Its a fair bit lighter than the old one. Roughly saved 4kg.



Now back up to date and looking good again. Did the London to Brighton and got runner up in SNS highly modified.
