I was going off this photo. Oh well. It's always number 4 on my engines.

It's in that case that i ask myself if dry deck realy helps? Otherwise the old heater by-pass still doing the job...
I have all the bits to tap and a blind gasket but the question is in my head.

Just to clear up what went on.

On the strip i blew the no3 piston which put the gearbox under pressure and sent oil out of the breathers.

Then i drove it 80 odd miles home on 3 and 1/2 pistons then 5 miles short of home the head gasket went between no1 and no2 so i was on no4 piston to i got home.

This is why no4 dont look too good.

I know this sounds very reckless but at the time i was unaware of the severity of what was going on down there.

That doesn't look good mate! At least the bores are ok and the block isn't scrap. *oh well*

Do you think you'll go for some forged next time?

I have seen that on a tractor before where the drive shaft had almost done a 180..

Thats some serious power and grip? or a faulty part.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

that is lucky - i've seen these sheer off in the car and it would be a pain to strip it all back out again.

is the part genuine or has it been replaced at some point?

Wow. Just read the lot from start to finish and I feel your pain. Since supercharging mine its spent more time being fixed than driven but I have this dogid determination to keep an A series engine. I guess were all the same. Love the car and the build. Keep the faith!!!! I'm local if you ever need a hand. James

The start of the big rebuild starts here, I still have to get the rods & block.

I will let the pics do the chatting.
