Looks good.

Good stuff mate, I'd leave out the bottom two wok bolts. Makes sorting the clutch in situe so much easier, and once the engine is in the mounts the wok wont go anywhere.

I've sloted the lowest bolt hole and put a hex bolt in, hopefully it will be accessible. I might whip the other one out though...

It's one customized to fit an a series by one of Wil H's friends. There was a thread on starter weights earlier thin the week discussing them.

Working for a living... Seriously though, I've had set back after setback. It's taken 3 months to get the engine together...

I still need to test for oil pressure and open up the pot joint holes in the frame as I've assembled my shafts of the car...

Would be good to see it in the bay this week. I've given up pushing to get it done for a deadline. It's done when it's done. *tongue*

Because a fully assembled shaft doesn't fit through the standard hole in the subframe.

Just read this from page 10 onwards, very nice :)

I like the look of the new CL, mines got the levers and i want to remove most of the door so cables might be necessary.

Thanks. CL is from a series spares. they are a bit fiddle to get right and the drilling templates are not that accurate. you'll need to leave about an inch above the bottom if the door card for mounting and the minor will need to be fairly solidly mounted.

filled the engine up with oil tonight and spun it over on the starter. The good news is 40psi oil pressure, the bad news is oil pouring out of the 3 & 4 inlet port and a bit in the centre exhaust port. I'm guessing the valve guides are loose in the head. Fuck. More work, money and delay. Bloody minis...

WTF ?

Guides are oil cooled ?
*surprised*

What if they just filled through loose guides when you filled the engine ?

(Still a head out job but at least the head is not shot.)

How about letting it warm up ?
Maybe the oil migrated through capillarity of a very dry guide ?

The engine is still sat on the trolley. I'm happy enough with the oil pressure.

It's wet around the valve guides in the roof of the ports, so they must be loose. Benny crack tested it for me so I know it's not a fooked casting at least.

I'm going to drop the engine in the bay next week, then whip the head of again. At lest I can get it rolling then and sort other things out...
