We got through at least half of the jobs on the pre-mot list last night. Hopefully be on the road next week, assuming the battery gets delivered in time...

Shame it's got oil dripping of the passenger side pot joint *indifferent*

Passed it's MOT this afternoon, tax is in the window. For 6psi, it goes deceptively well. Doesn't feel anything like it did with the T3. *happy*

Just need to sort the oil drain on the turbo, as most of the oil is draining down the back of the block....

Back in pieces. Oil drain no worky so good and it was easier to find where the turbo and manifold weren't blowing than where they were.

Hopefully back in and running Saturday.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Striped the turbo etc of the other day and (hopefully) got it sealed onto the manifold. Now the parts have finally come, I've made the new oil drain.

Can't think why the old one didn't seal to the turbo...

Just need to 'adjust' the actuator bracket so that it doesn't hit the bulkhead and it can all go back together. All being well it will be back on the road tomorrow. *smiley*

All day putting it back together and it fooking leaks! Needs welding all the way round the joint on the turbo side. More fun tomorrow!

Also had to get a new genuine clutch slave cylinder. The old non genuine one had always been a PITA to bleed, but it was full of air after 10 miles and 5 days parked up...

The new one is very similar to my setup with the elbow, I had a similar problem, mig welded it all round nice and neat and it leaked like a sieve!, luckily I pressure tested it off the car first, ended up giving it all a really good clean and then brazed over the whole area of the welds, I suppose soft solder would also do the trick. Anyhow all looking good, John said he/you will race me at Avon looking forward to it!

Copper and solder won't work, won't take the heat. Just needs the gaps migging in. The base is 3mm thick so should be OK to get a fair bit of weld in. I have a cunning plan to keep it flat whilst welding...

See you for a beer or two at Avon Oli, I'm guessing the van will give away our location

How hot do you think the oil will be, if you are concerned that it will melt soft solder at about 200c

Spent a fun afternoon getting the oil drain off. Took me nearly an hour to get one bolt out. In the end I had to adapt an allen key to get at it

Welded up the joins on it and tried it on my test bed. Still leaked. So I butchered an oil pickup from a gearbox...

No leaks from the welded bit, just need to drill the bolt holes out and reface the mating side (No gasket fitted in that pic).

So John can put it back on tomorrow, the we can fit the BCA needle and wind the boost up a bit in preparation for a visit to the rollers on Thursday.

Mine is silver soldered. It's never leaked and was a piece of piss to do.

If you get stuck at the weekend Halfords sell it too.
