just popping the mg cam in. The half moon seal appears to have been rtv'd. My question is do I need the metal part or is that part of the old seal?

The metal part was originally moulded into the half moon seals so can't be reused.

ok, so barring the rolling road im done...........for now.

mg n/a cam
cross pin diff
3.1 final drive
clutch release bearing
couple of bearings in gearbox
valves lapped
new stem seals
carb rebuild kit
turbo oil pump
couple of new bushes
maniflow 2" single box exhaust
central oil pick up pipe

I think that is it?

So far it is massively improved all round.

The cam lets it rev.
The exhaust doesn't hang too low and it sounds great.
The cross pin diff encourages hooliganism.
The 3.1 final drive means I can break the speed limit more easily lol.
Oil pressure is improved with the new pump (more consistent).
Replacing the old carb butterfly with the solid new one without the valve thing has improved tick-over..... I think.

All in all, I can't wait to get it on the rollers.

My lad looking very pleased with himself after helping daddy wash and wax the mini *Clapping*

Just a little update.

I have bought and fitted a wideband gauge.

Turns out I need to start tuning a fresh needle as its major rich under boost and high revs. Ignore the boost gauge as its plumbed in the wrong side of butterfly.

Take the lid of and take a picture of the board. It's certainly not in a normal case.

Yeah although I really don't want to sell it.
I have just started a new job, Apprentice HGV technician, That means low wages and at 29 years old with a mortgage and two kids, something has to give. I'm working on the missus though, if she gets rid of her Impreza wrx I can keep the mini and the defender lol

Swansea boyo!

To be honest, driving it normally I get pretty much the same sort of mpg as I used to when it was NA. It's only when I'm driving it like a hooligan it goes under 25mpg which isn't very often haha *tongue*
