Few hours in the garage today and a big milestone met - the engine is now in.

Constructed the engine and gearbox in the frame then lifted the shell over the top. It was then hoisted into position, to be honest went much smother than I expected.

Really pleased as that should be the hardest job done!

Awesome Mark, looks like it should have been in there rather than an engine conversion!

Thanks fellas - not setting any time scales to get this done but I'm making good progress - still a few challenging bits to figure out but I'm really enjoying this build.

Really nice this *happy* Looking forward to the progression.

Will your exhaust manifold fit in ok or will you need to lift the engine/shell to get it in?

Few more jobs ticked off the list, not really pic worthy though.

Fitted the RetroSport suspension top brackets, then started on the rear frame - nothing revolutionary going on here as I'm trying to make a road car I thought I would stick with standard-ish parts.

New fame on order and will arrive powder coated, DSN alloy trunnions and handbrake quadrants, all new bearings etc, reconditioned radius arms, new brake set up with mintex pads and minifins. Will document that once fitted.

Also ordered my intake manifold, trumpets, backplate and filter - pics to follow in a few weeks.

Next on the list is to fabricate a mount for the internal pedal box - going to attempt to use the original fittings on the firewall / crossmember etc.

Some rare time spent in the garage, I now have the rear frame in. Refurbished rear radius arms, new rear brakes, kad brackets and some dsn bling. Also decided on Protech shocks.

Actually feels like some decent progress.

Meanwhile this has arrived in the post - you can't buy an inlet suitable for jenveys off the shelf for this head so had this made and my measurements actually worked and the itbs fit in the bay!

Steady progress being made - Managed to get the front hubs and discs etc mocked up today - all fits, callipers might be a few months off yet - looking at the SC mono block 4 pots.

I looked at those damper brackets on dsn earlier, but I already have brand new heritage ones, maybe later on I'll treat myself, they do look nice!

Looking good mate, what's happening with the angle of the damper? Does it need a spacer at the bottom?

Should there be a collar between the damper and the upper suspension arm? On the pin? Not sure I've ever used one..

I know there's a spacer for the bottom, can't remember if the top has one or not now, looks like the retrosport one has that built in though.

Yes there is. I had to cut one in half to get the damper in the right place. Probably still have the other one throwing round.
