My money says they are the same Max Speeding rods from China but with a different laser etch on them.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I was a bit bored, so looked on interwebs for maxpseeding rod info.

http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?41,1826191

http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=406766

Both of these links contain interesting information; the MGExperience site talks about billet machined rods made in England that were embarassing quality with the BE being interpolated on a CNC instead of finish honed to size!!!! WTF!!!!

The MGRover site mentions Dave Andrews (respected K-series tuner) uses the maxpseeding rods, and that initially the rods had a few little issues that made them "not as good as they could have been", but with feedback from DA, resulted in a modifed design that no-one has any reported failures on...

I'd say these could be worth a sniff. The interesting (or should that be blatantly obvious) thing is that all ebay, SC, and "others" rods all look the same.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

$325 ?
Wow, what a great price.

I’m not so sure about their statements of the following claims:

Racing History
- Pat Moss won the 1962 Monte Carlo Rally Ladies' Award.
- Rauno Aaltonen placed 3rd in 1963 Monte Carlo Rally.
- Paddy Hopkirk, Timo Makinen and Rauno Aaltonen won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967.

I don’t think they used Chinese H-beam rods?

I've seen them as cheap as £150 lately

So my SA1071 engine build has a set of Williams rods in. He doesn’t live far from me, the first set were a little out on the weights, the second set were all very close. They are not light as you would want from a high end manufacture, but I needed a long rod to fit the SA short stroke crank without spending £1k.

They have seen 8300, so far so good.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I think that about sums them up. Great value but may need a little fettling. Not as light as the big money rods so dubious benefit over standard A+ gear. Just don't be duped into paying over the odds for them!

Think its important to take a step back sometimes and think about the application as well. If you were cheaping out on rods on a 800bhp 'jdm tight yo' 6-pot turbo id question your sanity. But the reality is our engines are piddly, and provided the holes are the rights sizes and everything is where its supposed to be, I see no reason to question the 'strength' of the rods in an a-series

Hey man, totally agree, when your chasing every bit. But for most, in the grand scheme the Chinese rods will do a job

Having said that, we all buy stupid things, is that not why we're here
