Good to see it back together. I saw your old block up at Steve's, it was a bit of a mess!

Small update nothing special, done a few bits as avon took its toll, same car now with no oil leaks(for the moment anyhow)!

but now has:

Switchable leanoff for cruise, as well as another of these behind the dash on the back of my bleed for switchable boost

and a quick release steel bonnet

also had a big spark plug trauma, been running brp8es and then rn7yc's, once back together it dropped a plug-it was fine on low boost then a flick to high boost and a bang from under the bonnet and a wisps of white/grey smoke from the exhaust and a very black no4 plug!

So gone onto the unipart ngk7's equivalent on advice from John and so far its all good, ordered an inlet temp gauge so thats next.

Oli does the part throttle lean off make a substancial difference to afr s on cruise? Considering doing this to mine.

To be honest bennyy I dont know yet, I have only took it out once since the plug issue and didnt really get a chance to test it properly, I did have a quick stint at 55mph ish and turned it on and yes is did seem to lean off but needs a proper run. I may be wrong but I think Robert has something similar on his car and may know the answer.

on my last lump I ran cold plug (equivalent to NGK 9's) and it was fine, even in the snow, on this lump it fouls them up and Ive had to drop back to 7's, all thats really changed is the cam and the CR from 8.5 to 8.2

Thats is interesting, I suppose plumped for cold plugs as a result of tm searching and also in fear of melting something at high boost, first was ngk 8's which ended up fouled when I had my first ignition problems then went to the champ rn7ycc's which have done only a few hundred miles(and a lot of avon park hammer!) before the one plug failed, here is a pic of two of the running plugs and the failed no 4 on the left (please excuse my scummy thumbnail!)

After some cooling issue on the rr day and some ic problems at Santa pod, I have made a few changes as an experiment mostly after talking to Robert on the rr day regarding ducting air in the right direction ect, so sticking with a side mount rad for now.

Inner wing duct thingy to radiator similar to cubmans with rubber flaps around the rad

New intake pipe in silicone with an alloy 45 this time, that piece of flexi duct I had was shite, also 2wd cossie intercooler and an air temp gauge connection in top plenum hose

fg bonnet and holes ect, no paint as yet and after spamming mikes thread to death decided to get another mk1 steel grill, going to paint that in oew

rubber intake scoop

dash is in, my new view of procedings

It seems to be a bit leaner with the new ic, probably because this one works but as I never had the IAT gauge on it before i have no comparision. Took it out breifly the other night, outside air at home was 13 deg c, intake got up to around 21 deg c on 15 psi-is that bad/good/indifferent?

Thanks chaps, made a lethal sort of fan/ propeller thing and a screen over the front of the car to piss about with air flow and it seems to get a real good flow through it. I agree though benny its not pretty but needs must, i need to do some more testing, will see you Sun but might have to bring a snow shovel!
