right well got my ass into gear yesterday and did some of the wiring, i'd say i got the rear loom plugged in and the switches, some of the engine done. i need a fusebox so once that turns up that will tidy up a lot of the other lose wires i have around the bulk head. need to start on the centre clock next so i'll bring that in as i can do that in doors.

i couldnt find my coil pack and edis so bit pissed off about that so i'm gonna turn the garage upside down wednesday eve as i really dont want to spend another 60 pounds at triggerwheels.

need to do a search on here about fuel lines what id i require as i remember somewhere reading the in and out on the fuel regs were different? and my copper lines from the spi seem tiny in comparison.

have other things like mount the remote oil filter i need to sort, not sure where ms expect me to mount it with the small amount of hose they gave me haha.....

ah well i feel tad motivated once more so fingers crossed the weather holds off and well i know i have more to do than i mentioned here but its now getting there.

lil steps.

8mm for supply and return will be fine for your fuel lines. I always used braided fuel hose, but a lot use 8mm microbore copper pipe.

thank you coupe, am i right in reading that i'll require 8mm > 6mm for the carb feed from the reg (do i just get 6mm and stretch it or is there step down converters?), and the return on the reg looks massive from memory....will 8mm be big enough?

i'm running about a 1 bar of boost will 8mm be enough for the feed and return?

sorry about the questions just coming to me :)

would this be ok for fuel you think :s

I ran 8mm everywhere, even between the reg and carb without any leaks. I ran upto 18psi boost on those lines without problem.

8mm is sufficient to run at injection pressures and flow, so it more than adequate for a force fed carb.

well after forgetting that i actually owned a mini for a few months i finally uncovered it a got my motivation back to get it sorted...slowly.

i've finished the wiring hopefully with just the centre console to put bulbs in and plug in; oh also need to finish the headlights but waiting for new bowls to turn up. Water system is all sealed and alternator belt and all that jazz is on.

Turbo is now fitted with feed so i'm glad thats done feels like a bit of a milestone for me as i never thought it would get there; or sometimes felt like the bloody thing will never see the car. The studs were very tight and had to be chopped down but all sorted. i stil need to fit the down pipe on the turbo but i need to get this welded up as my matty manifold is at an angle and it fowled on the back of the block to had to cut the down pipe from the flange twist and will spot and get properly welded and secure properly (fingers crossed this wont take to long). Once on the car i was surprised how much space i had!!

My list is as follows:

- order coilpack and edis (i lost mine)
- wire in MJ
- bleed brakes
- finish centre console wiring
- wire in fuel pump
- weld exhaust down pipe
- mock up IC
- fit wastegate
- mock screamer pipe.....

and if i can be bothered

- fit remote oil filter and oil cooler (i may do these at a later date.)

anyway few piccys (and yes that is my bad welding but it was my first attempt lol)

Yeah i noticed that you've got the new external wastegate, i mean't is that bit welded on the exhaust side of the turbo for the old internal wastgate/actuator? sorry. :)

well a bit of a good day i think! supermottolee popped over and as i wont lie i was struggling with panicing so its nice to have a clam head about you to look at things logically as me, myself and i were struggling a bit :)

so my complications of the exhaust down pipe sitting to lower than expected resulted in chopping down the elbow to bring the down pipe up and some adjusting, grinding and well you can see from the piccys. Le has it now to get welded by someone who can weld then i'll fit it.

big thanks to lee really appreciated his help on this!!

piccys below.

well few hours spent on the car fitting the exhaust and elbow.......what a bitch!

had a bit of an issue whereby because of the new angle off the elbow it was fairly if not impossible to get a nut on there so i had to cut the stud down i then spent about 20 mins trying to get it to catch with washer but it was not having any of it so i just had to make do with a nut.

happy with how the exhaust sits under the car nice and high, was worried it would hit the gear hanger but a crowbar and some forcing over helped move it over :)

right pics

hmmm maybe, but its pretty tight down there and if anything im grateful for the extra space when fitting the exhaust so i think considering space and bitch value it works where it is for me anyway.

When using an external wastegate if you pipe the dump pipe back into the exhaust down pipe you MUST MUST MUST!! put it back in AFTER the lambda sensor by a decent distance,

the reason being, external wastgeates deliberatly leak boost pressure through them to keep them cool, also the feed for them MUST be from before the carb othewise you will dump fuely air throgh them which will light up in the down pipe and also wear the wastgate.

Lighting up in the downpipe sounds fun though Joe!

well i've been lazy and no excuses but i've been busy the last few weeks fitting headlights and finishing the wiring and dash etc all boring stuff really

piccy (removed but better one further down) below is the IC in its place, bonnet shuts and well just need some metal to make some brackets but other than that happy with it; of and clips for the hoses.

still to do is

- make screamer pipe (doing this sat)
- bleed brakes
- check wiring
- check MJ signal as i've yet to get it working on my mac :(
