I've just been looking at this thread and realised how how quickly time goes by!

Anyway, no more photos handy but I've been making a bit of progress. The wife has allowed some leave from the domestic chores to let me get some time at the workshop. This is probably all going in the bank so she can nag/ remind me later in the year of all the things needing doing round the house!

Anyway, progress is going slowly in the right direction. I've now got power and testing circuits. As for running, I'm working on the breather system before I can fill it with fluids and check for oil pressure.

Coil pack is mounted on a custom bracket on the brace bar and leads are bought and ready to fit. Had a bit of an issue with the valve gaps (thought the engine was seized!) but all is ok now.

Forgot to fit my take off for the boost gauge to the inlet manifold before I fitted it so a bit of undoing fitted parts was a bit of a pain.

From the point of view of getting up and running, the following needs to be addressed;

Wire coil pack
Wire fuel pump
Finish breather and fit rocker cover
Fit oil pressure and boost guages
Fit hose clips to inter cooler pipes
Oil and coolant
Fit air filter
Final check

Realistically, I could get it turning over for oil pressure pretty quickly, however all these little bits seem to be taking for ever! My goal though is to get it at least running before Avon and get it to MITP

We'll wait and see..........

Probably best be this year as I won't be able to afford to run a second car next year...

well i managed to get up to the workshop yesterday to get some motivation to get the car finished. I took the cover off the car to find it covered in condensation and a pool of oil under the timing case end of the engine.

I put the cover back on and went home

Hi Rob, I just wanted to say loving the build, especially the wheels.

Just wanted to ask are the 7x10" rims?
Are you using ineertubes in these and finally what arches are they, as I plan to run a set on my clubby estate.

Cheers

Bobby

wheels are 10x7, yes with inner tubes although I recall a topic a few months back where Carl suggested thay could be run without in certain circumstances.

Arches are Gp5 Euros although they would need a bit of work to suit a clubby estate

well, a bit more detail on Saturday's result.

As a bit of background, I've had the engine turning over to get oil pressure. About a month ago, I got the leads for the megajolt but never managed to get the laptop to talk to it yet. The unit is second hand, and in theory, has a map already loaded to get me up and running though.

Anyhow, on saturday, Keith and I decided to have a go at getting the car started again. We were getting a couple of coughs but nothing more. With a lack of any on-line info and knowledge to hand, we swapped the HT leads about and hey presto, It started! I'm still not sure which order i've not got them on but it runs sweet! I've got to say its been a huge uplift for enthusiasm on getting the car finished.

I didn't have time to bed the cam in so I've only fired it up for a couple of short bursts so far. The plan is to get up to the shed on Saturday, bleed up the brakes and clutch, push it outside and fire her up and bed the cam in. Video will be posted for all the sceptics

well, got another good afternoon at the workshop today.

oil pressure gauge sorted, rev counter sorted, suspension greased and brakes bled, cam bedded in and a couple of other minor bits.

car is starting on the button and sounding good. Only issue i've got is the clutch is refusing to bleed; i'm not even getting anything through with the easybleed so i'm assuming the master cylinder is knackered. A job for another day

a litle video for the doubters!
