Slow progress at the moment as I've been fitting a 12G295 to the Mini 30.

Anyway, last bit of maching done to the fuel rail brackets, so now ready for welding.

Whow, those fuel rail bracket are massive !

I bet you can use those bracket to lift the engine out of the car !

Ho but of course they are gorgeous.

I wish I could built up to that standart ...

Not a lot of progress in the last three months, but I've started on the downpipe:

Need to make up the AFR sample chambers next.

Got as much done on the downpipe without putting the engine in the car. Sample chambers built and welded on:

Tomorrow, back to practising aluminium welding.

looking good Paul!

rather than practicing, I think you need to just attack the job in hand,

nothing like a bit of pressure to speed up the learning curve!

Since Paul has documented all of it by posting on the forum, you could reproduce it and understand what everything is and why it's there. There is a lot of knowledge and skills in there but the information has been shared so that people can benefit if they so chose.

are you gonna get a true readings on them lambda sensors, im just thinking the gases whizzing past them when the engines on full chat that the gases wont flow up there or you may get like a vacuum type effect?

im asking out of my own curiosity and not to question your excellent engineering skills paul

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

If you look at the testing of my 998 EFi turbo, which has the same system, then you will see that they do work.

The fact that you get the distinct change in AFR on both sensors on each gear change confirms they work, in my opinion.

EDIT: Reading your comment again, I realise that you may not have fully understood how they work. The gas goes into the chambers via a 4mm bore tube fitted to the manifold branches upstream of the turbo.

And although I've only run the dual widebands on an engine on the garage floor so far, yes, the sample tubes and chambers do work...

More proof soon.
