So....... what exactly is the engine. It says duratec, but it looks more like a zetec. What about the intake and exhaust - they don't look like something that would leave any automotive factory? Just curious....

Ford badged the focus rs engines as duratecs. In reality, a blacktop 2.0l zetec with different rods, pistons, cams, valves and valve springs.

Inlet is from a Nissan pulsar gtir, been respaced to fit.

Exhaust is a primary designs tubular manifold.

Been getting bits and pieces done

Fitted the centre shaft, gear cables, starter, and bits of loom.

Made a parcel shelf, now just got to make a centre engine cover. Thinking of doing a 1 piece one, with a Perspex window in it.

Also Prefitted the turbo, and starting looking at the cooling and exhaust system.

Cooling system needs completely replumbing rear of the tunnel. I'm going to rotate the down pipe for the exhaust through 90 degrees, fit a small silencer and exit out of the LH rear quarter.

Oil return made tonight. Finally found a way of making up hoses without getting stabbed/slashed to pieces by the braid.

Engine cover made

Just a little fettling to get it fitting properly. Then have to fit the anchor nuts.

Also starting to have a little play at making some boot hinges

Quick update.

Finished up the engine cover, and it's now ready for fixings. Just got to decide on whether to go with anchor nuts or livelocks.

Measured up for a new firewall

Finally have convinced one of the fabricators to weld up my plenum, so hoping to see that in a week or two.

Cooling system has been totally removed, as none of what I had built for n/a worked with the turbo setup.

Also started getting ready to mould bootlid

Finally finished my zetec crankcase breather today, now that work has calmed down a bit.

Be fine, I had a carbon rocker cover when I was running the a-series. No adverse reaction at all.

Haha, yes mate. Good job it's bolted to the engine I suppose!

Hinges have taken a back seat while I sort out the boot that they attach to. 😉

Found a bit of time this weekend

Both Drive shafts are in, and suspension tightened up.
Sitting outside for a few months haven't been kind to the rear arms, need a clean up and paint.

Also got the exhaust and turbo on, and promptly found out that a focus rs decat won't fit, it hits the trailing arm 😡

Started on the brakes today.

Is it ok to space the cylinders this high, and not modify the pushrods?

Its not an issue at all, but wouldn't it be easier to mod the pushrods ?

All sorted mate, in my drawer at work.
Going to have them threaded to M6, as the thread looks to have been rolled on the pushrods, meaning i dont have enough diameter further up.

Modded the first cylinder today. Wanted to do them one at a time incase I messed it up!

Also started to fit a steering column bracket I made. The standard bracket wasnt stable at all, this one makes it feel solid now.

Also finished fitting the parcel shelves. Now the main engine cover needs a little trim.

Seat is in.

Ecu mounted

And after consultation on this

Going to fit it in the centre binnacle position, so that's it easier to see.

Inlet/plenum is finally TIG welded up, and is now vapour blasted, and ready for gaskets and assembling onto the engine.

Also got the pedal box back in, with the wilwood cylinders in place. New lines to have made, and that should just leave the coolant system to plumb in....... I think!
