Yeah I ran it in the way Steve suggested on that page and it's faultless. Oil pressure's are spot on, the bore's still look nice and fresh, just spot on really!

Just thought I'd have a little update on here too, I can't recomend the turbo mini route to anybody enough! It's just what I was after in my car. Off boost it drive's so nicely, an I can easily reach about 35-40mpg, then on bost I'll admit the fuel consumption is rediculous but it's phenominal fun! Pull's it's heart out all the way through the rev range!!!

I'd strongly recomend anybody looking into a fast mini that they want to use daily to strongly consider the turbo option. After a ride in my friend's tuned 1380, seeing how rubbish that is off the rev range and how horendous that is at idle, it was such a nice feeling to take him a ride in the turbo and just seeing him grabbing onto the harness while screaming 'Fuuuuuccckkkin 'elllll' when it came on boost and torque steered it's way down the road!! Such good fun!!! *happy*

Comming back down the M1 a few week's ago very early in the morning, I tryed it on with a civic type R, an alll the way upto 100 the mini stook with it VERY easily, but anything over that the civic started to pull away. I was still MASSIVLEY impressed with that to be honest, I know it's nothing massive but it's not a heavily specced engine to be honest.

Anyway! A few update's to come along soon, rear gearbox steadies, new clutch, oil cooler, carb rebuild turbo rebuild and intercooler all on the cards. Should be just about done then for a while, untill next winter when I'm hoping on goign for a SC box an drops.

Just thought I'd give Steve abit of a plug here, I'd reccomend his work to anybody, as far as I can tell it's of the highest standard and he's one fo the nicest bloke's I have met in a long time. He's always got time for a chat, advice, always ready with the tea pot too *happy* Anybody looking for a Good reliable engine build, built by a great bloke who keep's in good contact, always on call to offer help then Benross is the way to go. Can't reccomend his work enough.

All for now Folk's!

Tom

Yes, very private land. Ironic you should mention that, I was comming back from a friend's who's hobby is flying light aircrafts etc, an I took him for a spin in the mini around the abandoned part of an air field, he seemed to think it was great fun too!

10cc dished Omega cast pistons,
Crank and rod's are standard,

I really like this car. Looks understated and subtle, but goes like stink. That's the right way to mod a car *smiley*

Taa for the comment's chap's. There greatly recieved!!!

Done a few more bit's to the mini recently. The turbo on it was nackered, play in and out, up and down and smoked like a good'en so I brought a recon turbo and fitted that. Very pleased with the outcome, no smoke, the motor pulls alot better and sounds phenominal! Well happy :)
Spent the bank holiday yesterday making a new dash to accomodate the extra dials...

Bought a new length of filter-turbo pipe, as my old one I cut to short, left it uncut as I have a Cossie 2wd intercooler comming soon an I want to play with the setup when that arrive's to see how I can get them sat together at the front...

Fitted a new speedo cable as my old one snapped a while ago, haven't had a speedo while I've been running this motor other then the sat-nav. Never realised just how quick it is!!!
That's all for now!

Oh yeah, that filter will be going soon for a more eye pleasing K&N. That was just brought at the time of the install as thats all I could get my hand's on localy!

Steve, I'd forgotten all about the Green cotton filter's! Thanks for the reminder chap, I'll get onto that...

Radliegh, When I go back to the roller's and up the boost I'm hoping for about 120bhp, not much compared to most on here but it'll do me for now. Especially with it being my everyday car too.

This came this morning, Well chuffed for 99p and a tenners postage!!!

Quick clean up and it should look well!

Taking to the mini with one of these next week...

New panels consisting of -

Scuttle
A panels
Wings
Front panel
Rear Valance
Rear quaters patched up and old arch holes tacked up
Sills on both sides
Door bottom/skin repair on the nearside
Front floor pans on each side
New rear subby with adjustable tracking/camber brackets, anybody got any good setup measurements?

Just about to order solid floor mounts and solid tower mounts. Should be having a metal removable front end this time round, getting fed up with cracking scuttle joint's, plus it'll make it easier to do a few jobs.

Going for internal fuel pipes too, aswell as while theres new floor pans going in, I'll be pulling all the sound deadning out and carpets.

Be careful welding up the arch holes, too much heat and it can make the quarters distort like fuck and leave you with loads of prep to do, to get a nice finish.

Yeah, talking to my uncle (used to work at a BMC Leyland garage when they where about) Mentioned about distortion with them being such a flat panel, I've asked him to come and give me a quick hand with a few of the more structural things on the car like the sills floor pans and scuttle but he didn't seem to phased about it.

Hopefully be ok. I'm half tempted to tub my arches thou while there's welding being done and it's in need of a re-spray. Makes sense to me to do it now rather then later

It's horrid weather today, well humid so I couldn't be arsed to spend ages doing work so I just shipped the rear valance off. My hopes were to have just the valance and possibley end finishing pieces to replace but alas, as per most mini's, there full of rotten suprises.
