Cheers Joe. You are right about the oil return even if I don't want to admit it because it means more work *oh well*

Progress

Carbon forks? What sort of push bike do you have?
Could you maybe just cut 5mm out of the straight section of your oil drain and replace with a straight bit of silicone like the standard metro turbos use..

Those forks are for my No Saint Max Ari R. XTR groupset and a Hope Mono Mini Pro brake. I'll stick some pics up later today for you.

Yeah, I think thats what I will do with the oil return. I also have a bit of flexi pipe (the same stuff as used in exhausts) thats the same diameter of the pipe. I may weld that in

Well, I have made some progress recently but nothing to do with the turbo. I have no time or money to finish the turbo yet and I was getting too impatient with driving my shit beemer.

Myself and Paul built a 998 with an SW10 cam and 12G940 head. It cost me the massive sum of €160 as between the pair of us we had most stuff lying around. Theres a massive list of small jobs left to do but we got it running today

I also noticed that my CF front is rusting *happy*

Engine almost built and on my new stand

Engine in. DO you recon the filter will hit the bonnet? *tongue* I think the ITG actually cost more than the engine!

I spent the last 2 days fixing a major cockup but the engine seems to be running well now. Just some tidying up to do and mod a bonnet

What is that radiator fan from?
I really like the alternator mounting and tensioner.

Saint. the mechanical fan is a pair of minispares 2 blade fans and the electric fan is from ebay. It only cost about €40.
I have decided that I am going with a front mounted rad now though.

Thanks for the compliments on the alt. It's a Denso 40 Amp that I got from Matty on here. Myself and Paul made the mount with him doing all the work really!

Thee car is now basically ready to go. I just have to hack a hole in the bonnet for the filter and find some indicator stalks. Hopefully I will get to got for a rip in it tomorrow and annoy people by not signalling

Back on the road after 10 poxy months. I still have to sort an oil leak and a few other bits but other than that it's running great. The fuelling is quite good and ignition is great too. I think everyone should put an SW-10 in their small bore motors 8-)

Big thanks to Paul for his time, help and parts. I would have been fooked otherwise

It as been going great this last week. Just a few little bits and pieces to sort out. I do need to sort out the little bit of torque steer on gear changes. That is probably just due to the horribly worn tie bar and bottom arm bushes. Its certainly nott as a result of too much torque *happy*

Will do. First impresssions are good. I haven't had any fuelling issues yet even though it was set up for a different engine. It starts really easy with just a few pumps of the pedal and I don't have to use that weird starter fuelling thingy.
One issue is the fact that nobody makes a linkage kit for it. I'm sure that won't be an issue for someone of your skills though.

How do you get away with those wheels without arches......

On the mainland you'd be nicked for that !!!

The offset at the front may explain your torque steer.

To be honest, I am very suprised I haven't been locked up for it yet. The NCT people are so incompetant they will probably miss it anyway. That reminds me, I must book my NCT tonight

Your NCT is just so different to our MOT - with my in-laws living in Ireland I've seen the differences .....

I'd take your version anytime, same price (approx) but valid 2 years.

NCT booked for this day 2 weeks. That is going to be fun. I thought I shocked them with the Beemer but they haven't seen the worst of it yet *happy*

I'm just home from the NCT. I failed on 31 things. None more serious than a holey subframe though *surprised* I expected all those problems though to be honest. I had a great laugh with the tester as he said it was such a shitbox until he saw the KAD 4 pots.

So I'm off on the piss now and I will do a few bits and pieces tomorrow. I will also be placing an order with minispares. Unfortunately I wont be getting anything interesting.

EDIT: Oh, and it weighed 707KG with almost no fuel on the brake tester. Does anybody know if that includes the driver or not?

Just found out that the 707KG included the driver (tester). He was probably about the same weight as me (~70KG) so my car weighs ~640KG. Not bad considering I haven't made any conscious attemps to lighten it

I've spent the last week or so working through my NCT failures. The retest is tomorrow week so I should be fine. I now have arches but they are still illegal. I will have to borrow narrower wheels for the retest. The arches do fit much better than I anticipated.
I need to sort myself out with a bumper and grille soonish as my car is starting to look like a poor effort at copying Nic's car *frown* Well' it's not as bad with the black bonnet
