Straight to the head, the plenum is taking shape as well and the charger has been front mounted, also bought that gt28r that went on ebay last week.

ah, pity, i'm planning on this year.
I've ripped off all the fuel injection stuff,
bolted on the 45 and the nos so should be ready to roll.
Will you be there?
It would be good to meet!

I'm trying to work out why I'm getting very rich AFRs on the inner cylinders.

The attached drawing is very much as the manifold was constructed.

I just wondered if I need to taper the hole from the injector nozzle into the port. It is tapered a bit from 8 to 10mm.

I just thought that it may be that the hole is disturbing the spray pattern causing the fuel to pool.

It depends on the injector spray angle. You may need to put them closer as 460 have a rather wide spray.
Anyway you won't avoid fuel hitting walls, the ports are too deep and injectors are far from valves. Modern engines spray on the valves. The fuel particle travel distance is rather short.

I've just had a look at my MPi manifold.

The hole opens up just after the nozzle.

I think I'll attack the holes with the die grinder.

I'm not seeing anything there that would cause problems to be honest...

Are you sure the O2 sensors are doing what they should be?

I've noticed interesting thing: I think the fuel boiling point is reached when the water is around 90 degrees. At this temperature the accel enrichment delay becomes null. Try to see how the engine behaves when very hot, it may be easier as a starting point because you would have to cope with the fuel film.

I keep doubting the sensors, but last weekend I had the inners running lean with the alternating setup.

I'll check again.

This is what I mean about the MPi inlet:

The nozzle face is totally unobstructed.

Anyway, i'm going to open up the hole downstream of the nozzle as much as possible.

Paul - You have an MPi inlet???

Any thoughts about throwing this on and starting the tests with this then?

I've thought about it, but ultimately I need to make my manifold work.

Other than this nozzle outlet issue, i don't think it will be any different, except maybe that the injectors are on top rather than underneath.

I just read a post from 2006 that says that the MPi injectors are 30 degree cone.

I'm now convinced that I need to open up the injector bung downstream of the nozzle as I have nowhere near enough space for the spray cone to develope, hence, it is dribbling out of the hole and pooling in the manifold.

I'm with Dave on this one, try the MPI manifold and see if you can get it to work with that first, at least it'll identify if the problem is the manifold deign or the MS.

Carried out the circumcision this morning.

The holes were originally 10mm dia. They are now 16mm and blended in.

I fitted it back on the car, took it for a run and the AFRs looked better.

Came back home, switched it off, fitted the laptop, went out again and the LC-1 was no reading correctly. Came back home switched it off, checked the programming on the LC-1.

Now it wont start..............

I was hoping for a data log before I went on holiday.
