Hi Joe

A few questions as i'm about to prep my 2nd block.

Are you fitting a full set of steel main caps or just the 4 bolt center..?

And are you line boring the block to once fitted.?

Cheers Joe

Same as mine then, I'm using turbo main caps for the other 2.

Thought that would be enough. *wink*

normally I wouldnrt botther with a 4 bolt main but I'm planing on spinning this lump fairly high,

Its pretty pricy to get the line boring done so be sure you actually need the 4 bolt main.

My thoughts to Joe,

I bought a posh crank and it came with a 4 bolt main cap. So I thought I'd go the whole hog, TurboDave sorted me out with correct bolts for it.

Just prepping the block at the mo then its off to the machine shop. Yet another expense. *frown*

I know it’s a time consuming job. How much they charge you..?

Finally a productive day!

waterways plugged and "vent" holes added.

thrusts fettled, bearings plasigauged and crank in,

Rings gapped, Ptfe buttons fettled, rods fitted, and together.

just to stop any air getting trapped,

I'm not blocking the head, so thought i may as well have a pin hole to beed any air through.

Why plug the waterways in the block if your not doing the head ?

Cams in....

Heres a comparison between the RE13T and the Phase 2,

Note the extra duration at lower lifts for despite the same or shorter seat timing & total lift, talking of lift note the lack of silly exhaust lift.

duration @ 50 thou is 235 deg, this is about 10 deg longer than the Ph2 exh and 25 ish longer than the Ph2 inlet!

Peak lift is 288 thou, LCA is 112 deg, lift on overlap 64 thou (all lobe figures)

joe , when you measured these ,what size increments did you use ?

and did you remember to take off the tappet clearance before starting to the 50 thou ? (eg ,say tappet clearance 15 thou at the valve , 12 thou at cam through a 1.24 rocker ,so your 50 thou duration runs from 62 thou to 62 thou off base circle..,, unless of course thats 50 thou at the valve , where then you'd end up with 52 thou lift at the lobe of the base eg 52 times 1.24 =64.48 .so 50 thou valve lift plus 14 thou tappet clearance .)

nice job by thw way .:)
